A new convenience store has officially opened its doors in North Platte.

Community members gathered to celebrate the ribbon cutting for Kwik Stop Convenience Stores #28, located at 2420 W. Walker Road. The new store sits along a well-traveled route toward the lake, making it a convenient stop for both residents and visitors heading out of town.

The opening marks the completion of a highly anticipated project, bringing fuel, food, and convenience items to a growing area of the city. The location features a modern design, multiple fuel pumps, and a spacious interior. The store also highlights local creativity with artwork from Holly Carlini displayed inside.

Kwik Stop officials expressed appreciation for the community’s support, saying they are grateful for the strong turnout and encouragement from residents. They said the new location represents more than just a business, but a reflection of the community they are proud to be part of, and they look forward to continuing to grow alongside North Platte.

Company leaders also shared a personal connection tied to the store’s grocery offerings. President and CEO Dan O’Neill grew up working at his family’s grocery store in Sumner, Nebraska, where his father emphasized quality service and community connection. A sign from that original store, Sam’s Market, has now been installed above the grocery section at the new location, creating a full-circle moment as O’Neill’s son helped hang it.

Kwik Stop #28 is now open to the public.
