Renate Fresh passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, Nebraska at the age of 87. Renate was born April 14, 1934 in Heidelberg, Germany to Wilhelm and Willamina (Leier) Denner. Following graduation, Renate married a U.S. Soldier. The couple moved to the United States of America when she was just 19 years old. Their union was blessed with 6 children. Renate loved every minute of raising her children and spending time with family. She enjoyed card games, playing yahtzee, berry picking and going fishing.
Renate was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; sister, Anita; and infant granddaughter, Stephanie McKinney.
Survivors include her children, Margot (Sam) Bowser of Washington, Bill (Jeanette) McKinney of Texas, Richard McKinney of Colorado, Dan McKinney of Colorado, Kathy Scott of Cozad, Nebraska and Robert McKinney of Cozad, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Trudy, Margot and Ingrid; and many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Memorials are suggested to the family in her name for later designation. Renate's wishes were to be cremated. A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the Berryman Funeral Home Chapel in Cozad, Nebraska with Harvey Pierce officiating.
