Eugene Hans Wurl (1926-2021)

Eugene Hans Wurl, age 94, passed away February 3, 2021 at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte, Nebraska. He was born on February 28, 1926 to Otto F. and Bertha (Streit) Wurl in Elm Creek, Nebraska.

Eugene graduated from Maxwell High School with the class of 1944. He was enlisted in the United States Army from June 23, 1944 to May 14, 1946. Eugene married Bonnie Matson on September 6, 1947. Eugene was employed by Dowhower Construction from 1959-1991, when he retired. He leaves a legacy of beautiful woodwork in many homes and businesses. He was a lifetime member of VFW and American Legion.

Eugene is survived by sons, Terry (Theresa) of Round Rock, TX and Doug “Boomer” (Karen Nelson) of North Platte, NE; grandchildren, Kristen (Peter) Bridgeman of Austin, TX, Erik (Isabel) Wurl of Round Rock, TX, Brock (Emily) Wurl of North Platte, NE, Kylie (Tim Felty) Bentley of Round Rock, TX, Jackie (Mike) Goode of Omaha, NE, Tyrell Wurl of Leander, TX, and Derek (Hannah) Wurl of Lincoln, NE.; and seventeen great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bonnie; and brother, Kenneth Wurl.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation for the Community Build Playground Fund and sent to Mid-Nebraska Community Foundation P.O. Box 1321, North Platte, NE 69103.

Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 5, 2021 at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska with pastor Job Vigil officiating. The family requests casual attire. Visitation will be noon-7:00 P.M., Thursday, February 4, 2021 at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home in North Platte, Nebraska, which is charge of arrangements.

The service will be livestreamed on the Adams & Swanson Facebook page for those that are unable to attend.
