
Mary Louise Stoetzel, age 87, of North Platte, died October 21, 2022 at Great Plains Health. Mary was born on September 19, 1935 in Hershey, Nebraska to William and Helma (Hankins) Lunkwitz, on her grandfather’s farm.
Mary graduated from North Platte High School with the class of 1954. She married Glen Stoetzel on October 23, 1954 in Belton, Texas. To this union four children were born Carol, Julie, Tim and LeAnn. The couple lived in North Platte and then moved to Leu Ranch in Hayes County, and to Wellfleet, then back to North Platte. Mary always had an open door to everyone. Her hands were continually busy with church projects, China painting, and other activities with various organizations. Mary was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. She will always be remembered as a giving person.
She is survived by her children Carol (Monty) Brandes, Sierra Vista, Arizona, Julie (Mark) Brandes, North Platte, Nebraska, Tim (Dawn) Stoetzel, Maxwell, Nebraska, LeAnn (Shawn) Hindman, Granger, Iowa; sister, Margie Griffin, North Platte, Nebraska; sister-in-law, Linda (John) Fairley, Minatare, Nebraska; along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, William and Helma Lunkwitz; husband, Glen Stoetzel; infant sister, Iva Mae Lunkwitz; brother, Bill Lunkwitz; step-sister, Linda Spencer.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, North Platte, with Reverend Daniel Ramsey officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska. Visitation will be from noon – 7:00, Tuesday, October 25 at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.
