
Marvin L. Frank, age 92, of McCook, Nebraska died peacefully at his home in McCook on Saturday, November 28, 2020. He was born September 11, 1928 to Jesse and Gladys (Turpin) Frank in Bartley, Nebraska. He grew up on the farm near Bartley and graduated from Bartley High School in 1946.
Marvin married Elaine L. Smith in Cambridge, Nebraska on March 4, 1950 and to this union four children were born. He joined the United States Army in 1950 and served in the 1st Calvary Division in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1956. Marvin returned to Bartley to work the family farm until being employed by CB&Q Railroad in the maintenance of way department for 39 years.
He enjoyed fishing, Nebraska football, being outdoors working in his yard, and the company of his children and grandchildren.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Harry E. Sr, and Opal Smith; brother, Marion (June) Frank and Gene (Vera) Frank; sisters, Marlene (Byron) Foster and Donna Mae Frank; and daughter-in-law, Tara.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine of McCook; brother, William (Evelyn) Frank of Carpenter, Wyoming; daughter, Diane (Steve) Marr of McCook; sons: Dennis Frank of Greeley, Colorado; Doug (Linda) Frank of McCook; and Scott (Jodi) Frank of Fort Worth, Texas; nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marvin chose cremation and a memorial service and inurnment in the Bartley Cemetery is being planned for a later date. Memorials are suggested to Home Health and Hospice of McCook or to a charity of the donor's choice in his name. Online condolences may be left at herrmannfh.com.
