Margaret “Marge” Lynn (Lehl) Thomas was born on September 26, 1944 in Lincoln to John and Emma Lehl. She attended Southeast High School, graduating in 1962. Then she attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln. She was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. After graduating in 1966, she married Sam Thomas in Lincoln. They were married for 57 years. She later earned advanced degrees from Chadron College and University of Nebraska at Kearney. She and Sam had three sons: Brian, Kevin and Eric.

Marge spent 23 years teaching. She led a gifted education program for the North Platte Public Schools. She also taught gifted classes as well as High School English. Later she taught disadvantaged students at the Learning Center in North Platte. She loved every minute of teaching and every student she ever had in class.

Her health forced her to retire in 2007. She spent many years volunteering after that. She was a member of the North Platte Chamber Hostesses and member for many years of the Foster Care Review Board. She was also a past president and chaplain of her PEO Chapter AK, and a member of the North Platte Playhouse Guild.

She loved spending time with her four grandchildren: Eli, Camden, Vincent and Kennedy. She also loved the Nebraska Huskers and attended every home game for many years. When she had spare time, she played Bridge. She and Sam were in a couples duplicate Bridge group for over 40 years with most of the same members: Bob & Julie, Ron & Lois, Betty & Gene, and Gil & Lynn (and later Jackie).

She is survived by her devoted husband Sam, sons Brian (Tricia) of Ohio, Kevin (Lori) of Lincoln, Eric of Callaway, grandchildren Eli, Camden, Vincent and Kennedy, and brother-in-law Pat (Penny) Thomas of Lincoln.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Goodfellow Shoe Fund or the Mid Nebraska Community Foundation.                  Livestreaming of the service and online condolences may be viewed and shared at www.adamsswanson.com
