In 2004 Nancy retired, and she and John moved to Plum Creek Canyon, Nebraska.
Nancy’s pleasure of lakeside living and life brought years of happy memories especially with her family. She enjoyed her cat (Dutch), bird watching, reading, fishing, camping, and cheering on Nebraska Cornhusker athletics, especially Husker Volleyball. Supporting her grandsons (Lucas & Alex) in sports, education, and life, were also a priority and passion for her.
She and her sister (Betty Anne) started an online non-profit magazine featuring entrepreneurs in towns under ten thousand in South Central Nebraska. Nancy designed and developed a self-guided birding trail, The Chicken Dance Trail.
