Huskers collect Four All-America honors on Wednesday

Nebraska track and field opened the NCAA Outdoor Championships on Wednesday in Eugene, Ore., at Hayward Field with four athletes earning All-America honors. 

Javelin school-record holder Keyshawn Strachan garnered his second-career first team honor tonight, placing fifth with a distance of 76.44m (250-9). Arthur Petersen joined him in the top eight of the javelin, throwing 75.50m (247-8), and claiming his second first-team recognition and fourth all-america honor overall. Dash Sirmon rounded out the group, finishing 14th (69.17m, 226-11) and becoming a three-time all-american. 

In the shot put, Maxwell Otterdahl continued his impressive postseason performance, earning his sixth all-america honor overall and fourth in this event, throwing 18.55m (60-10 ½) for 19th. 

Till Steinforth competed in the first round of the decathlon, sitting in 21st place with 3330 points. He placed third in the long jump (7.38m, 24-2 ½) and fifth in both the 100m (10.72) and the shot put (14.68m, 48-2). 

The women are set to start competition tomorrow with Berlyn Schutz leading off Nebraska’s action in the 1500m at 6:21 p.m. (CT). Field events will be streamed on ESPN+ throughout the evening, while running events can be watched on ESPN.
