Karla K. Franzen, 69, of North Platte, NE passed away on Friday, September 22, 2023 at Great Plains Health Hospital surrounded by her loving husband and family.

Karla was born on August 21, 1954 in Cheyenne, Laramie County, Wyoming, the daughter of Leslie Harnish, Jr. and Barbara A. (Turman).

Karla graduated from North Platte High School in 1972 and was married in that same year to Ronald R. Franzen.  Together they had 3 daughters and raised their family in North Platte.  Karla worked for 12 years as a bartender at the Platte Bar and for several years at Cabela's in the call center, retiring in 2013.  She loved camping and fishing along with her family, and spending time at the Lake during the summers as often as possible.  Karla loved spending time with her family and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Karla’s memory are her husband of 51 years, Ron; daughters, Lesley J. Okamoto (David) of Lincoln, Shelli M. Franzen of North Platte, and Kelly R. Franzen (Nathan Heessel) of Maxwell; grandchildren, Terrel R. Koch (Skyla Guilliatt) of Lincoln, Gracey M. Moore (Aaron) of North Platte, Avri A. Nolan-Franzen of North Platte, and Julianna R. Moore of Maxwell; great-grandchildren, Kadence R. Koch, Addie M. Koch, Sam J. Moore, and Lila S. Moore; brother, Leslie Kirk Harnish (Janet) of Cheyenne, WY; several nieces and nephews including special niece and her family, Susan L. Caudillo (Derek), Owen, Stella, Briar, Dennis, Abby (Ben), and Alec.  

She was preceded in death by her parents, and beloved sister, Karri A. McCaslin.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with Chaplain Ned Cooper officiating.  Memorial book signing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 26th at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family for future designation.
