Tracy Dean Neverve passed away unexpectedly at his home in Hayes Center, NE on Wednesday May 17, 2023. He was 66 years of age.
Tracy was born in McCook, NE on Aug 31, 1956 to Harry and Josephine (McHarness) Neverve of Hayes Center, NE. He graduated from Hayes County High School in 1974. After graduation he entered the workforce with various employment at Hayes County Co-Op, Hayes County Road Department, and Hayes County Sheriff Department. He married Judy (Hurst) on August 6, 1983. They welcomed their daughter, Amber, in 1987 followed by the arrival of their son, Brett, in 1989. Tracy worked for the State of Nebraska Department of Roads for 32 years, retiring in 2013. Tracy was also a member of the Hayes County Volunteer Fire Department and EMT for many decades.
In 2000 Tracy was elected to the Hayes Center Village Board where he dedicated over 20 years to serve the community he was so proud of. During his terms of service he held various positions, including mayor of Hayes Center. During his retirement he enjoyed spending time with his then wife, Cheryl (Ritesman), and their cats. He was always quick to call to discuss the weather and enjoyed completing the daily crossword puzzles. He loved to tinker around fixing the Ford 8N tractor and socializing over morning coffee at the Co-Op and Senior Center. Tracy also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Recently he filled his hours with work at O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in McCook where he loved socializing with the public.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harry, mother, Josephine, and grandparents Barney and Anna Neverve.
Survivors left to celebrate his life are daughter Amber (DJ) Edmonds of Terre Haute, IN, granddaughter Natalie and grandson Triston, son Brett (Morgan) Neverve of Beatrice, NE, grandsons Pearce and Maxim, sister Noreen Christner of Wauneta, NE, cousin Eileen Jepson of Curtis, NE, Ex-Wives Judy of Phoenix,AZ, Cheryl of Indianola, NE, and special friend Lori Turner along with nieces and dear friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday , May 26, 2023 at the Herrmann Jones Funeral Chapel in McCook with Pastor Jean Miller officiating. A private family inurnment will be at a future date. Memorials may be left in Tracy’s name to the Hayes Center Fire Department.
