The Post has learned that 12-year-old Ellie Siegel has passed away from injuries sustained in an accident on Tuesday morning.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Ellie’s friends and family.

A 12-year-old North Platte girl was seriously injured in an accident on South Highway 83 on Tuesday morning
According to North Platte Police, on October 20 at 11:01 AM officers responded to the intersection of State Farm and Highway 83 on a traffic accident.
Police say a 2016 Freightliner pulling a tanker was traveling southbound on Highway 83 in the right lane intending to continue south through the intersection of State Farm. A 2006 Chevy Impala was traveling northbound on Highway 83 approaching State Farm in the left turning lane with the intention of turning left to go westbound on State Farm.
Police say according to the drivers involved and a witness the light was green on Highway 83 for north/south traffic. The Chevy Impala did not yield the right of way to the semi and began to turn westbound onto State Farm when the collision occurred.
The driver of the semi was identified as 63-year-old Robert Schmidt. Schmidt had lower body pain and was not transported.
The driver of the Impala was identified as 15-year-old Mae Siegel who had a valid school permit. Mae had complaints of pain and was not transported to the hospital.. There was a front-seat passenger in the Impala identified as 12-year-old Ellie Siegel.
Ellie was transported to Omaha in critical condition and her current condition is unknown.
Seat belts were in use and the front airbags deployed on the Impala.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-An accident at a dangerous North Platte intersection sent two people to the hospital on Tuesday.
At around 11:00 a.m., North Platte Police and North Platte Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a semi versus car accident at South Highway 83 and State Farm Road, near Menards.
The two people in the car were transported to Great Plains Health, one of them with serious injuries. The semi driver was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation.
