Betty (Reed) Fothergill, 82, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Brookefield Park in Saint Paul, Nebraska.
Betty was born August 1, 1941, the 4th of 5 children, to George and Edna (Courter) Reed. She grew up on the family farm east of Lexington and attended District 3 school. She graduated from Lexington High School with the class of 1959.
Betty was a mother, housewife, and worked odd jobs, including as a waitress at Coney Island and Big John’s in Grand Island, and as a baker at Karre City Bakery in Lexington. She started taking care of the elderly in their homes in the early 1990s and continued until she had to retire for health reasons in 2000. Betty enjoyed baking her famous banana bread, gambling at casinos, BINGO, and playing cards.
Survivors include her sons Joe (Becky) Krejci of Grand Island, Mike Krejci of Prescott Valley, AZ; daughters Lisa Krejci (Jason Collins) of Sacramento, CA, and Linda (Brian) Cornelius of Saint Libory; and sister-in-law Nola Reed of Lexington.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husbands Marvin Krejci and Harold Fothergill; brothers Bob Reed, G. Tom Reed and Dick Reed; and sister Pat Rozell.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 10:30 am at Reynolds Love Funeral Home in Lexington with Pastor Sarah Neben, officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with family receiving guests from 5-7 p.m. at Reynolds-Love Funeral Home in Lexington.
Burial will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Lexington.
