NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (June 12, 2025) — Nebraska State Patrol troopers have arrested an Illinois man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation out of Chicago.
On Wednesday afternoon, the Nebraska State Patrol received information that a suspect in a Chicago homicide case was possibly traveling through the state in a semi-truck. Troopers located the vehicle shortly after it exited Interstate 80 and parked at a business just south of the interstate.
The driver, identified as Essian McGinnis, 34, of Tinley Park, Illinois, was taken into custody without incident. He was booked into the Lincoln County Jail on an active homicide warrant issued in Cook County, Illinois.
The Nebraska State Patrol is working in coordination with the United States Marshals Service and the Chicago Police Department on the case.
