Inez Joan (Russell) Myers, known to her family and friends as Joan, was born August 22, 1930, at Gates, Nebraska to Arch and Inez (Freeman) Russell. Joan attended the Red Star Elementary School and attended High School in Broken Bow, Nebraska, graduating in May of 1948. After Rex Myers bought Joan’s Box at a Box Supper Auction, their love story began. On December 5, 1948, Rex and Joan married at the Lillian Church of Christ.
