News Release Great Plains Health
Eye Surgeons of Nebraska has officially joined the Great Plains Health family.
Beginning on January 1, 2023, the clinic will operate under its new name, Great Plains Health Eye Institute.
Dr. Kristen Burwick, owner of Eye Surgeons of Nebraska, approached leadership at Great Plains Health about acquiring her clinic, and she will continue to serve patients at the Eye Institute.
“I have loved running my practice, but stepping back and truly focusing on patient care versus running the business is the best step forward for me, personally,” Dr. Burwick said. “I believe this is also the best step for the future of expanded ophthalmology services in the region.”
The board of directors at Great Plains Health sees the value of offering outstanding and top-of-the-line eye care to the region and voted to move forward with the acquisition of the practice in order to ensure greater access, growth and continued local leadership of the eye care facility.
“One of our strategic objectives is to ensure access to quality care,” Ivan Mitchell, chief executive officer at Great Plains Health, said. “When Dr. Burwick approached the board, we carefully assessed the acquisition and believe that our involvement helps secure local access to continued quality eye care for our community.”
The clinic’s service offerings and location remain the same, 806 S. Maple St., North Platte, Neb.
“I truly value the relationship that I’ve built with each and every patient over the years, and I look forward to continuing to provide exceptional eye care at Great Plains Health Eye Institute,” Dr. Burwick said.
Dr. Burwick is a board-certified physician through the American Board of Ophthalmology. She earned her medical degree from The Ohio State University College
of Medicine in Columbus, Ohio, where she remained for her internship and residency before relocating to North Platte in 2013 to join Eye Surgeons of Nebraska.
