
NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-A second man accused of being involved in an assault and robbery in North Platte has been arrested.
According to police, on July 23 at 5:10 PM an officer took a prior assault complaint at a residence in the 100 block of West William Avenue.
Police say a 24-year-old male victim reported that on July 19 at approximately 2:00 AM several individuals knocked at his front door.
Investigator John Deal says it was reported that the victim answered the door and was "jumped" by Alexander Bernt and Charles Robinson. Deal says these individuals are all acquainted with one another.
According to police, it was reported by the victim that Bernt struck the victim in the body and head with a wooden handle. He also alleged that Robinson had struck the victim in the body and head with a metal tool, according to Deal.
Police say the victim suffered chipped teeth and bruises to the head and body. In addition to the assault, police say the victim's wallet and house key were stolen in the attack.
On July 24, officers had contact with Robinson at the police department on placed him under arrest on suspicion of 2nd-degree assault and robbery.
Officers contacted Bernt on July 25 at a residence in the 800 block of South Chestnut Street. He was also arrested on suspicion of 2nd-degree assault and robbery.
