Myrtle May Babcock, 77, of North Platte passed away January 11, 2022 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.  She was born December 6, 1944 to John and Ruth (Bowley) Bolen in Merna, Nebraska.
Myrtle grew up in Eureka Valley and attended Arnold High School, graduating with the class of 1964.  She was united in marriage to James Babcock on October 19, 1965, in Anselmo, Nebraska at the Catholic church.  The couple lived in Hawaii for three years while James was stationed at Oahu.  To this union two children were born, Victor and Wendy.  Myrtle was a stay-at-home mom and enjoyed spending time with her children.  While living in Wallace, she enjoyed helping at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  She was a member of VFW 1504, enjoyed gardening, tending to her flowers, crafting and attending the local fair.  Most of all Myrtle enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, James; children, Victor Babcock and Wendy (Troy) Grothman; grandchildren, Justin (Amanda) Roberson, Brendan (Christine) Cline, Dalton Cline, Robbie Grothman, Bryce Grothman, Tondarae Francis and Christy Buckland; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Dale Bolen, Joe Bolen and Dave Bolen, along with several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Bolen, brothers, Leonard and Charlie Bolen and great-grandson Hunter Roberson.   

Memorials are suggested to the Callahan Cancer Center in Myrtle’s memory. 

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home with Father Bernard Kimminau officiating.  Burial will follow at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Nebraska.  Visitation with be held, noon – 5:00 P.M., Monday, January 17, at Adams & Swanson Funeral Home.
