
Paul Donald Coder, age 93, of Wellfleet passed away Monday, May 2, 2022.
Paul was born November 10th, 1928, to Donald J. and Madeline (Mousel) Coder in Avon Lake, Ohio.
Paul spent his early childhood on a farm near Orofino, Nebraska. His family moved to a ranch near Wellfleet in 1938. Paul remained a life-long resident of Wellfleet.
Paul attended grade school at Opal Springs and graduated from high school at the University of Nebraska School of Agriculture in Curtis in 1946. After graduation he attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and then served in the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed in Pensacola, Florida.
On June 5, 1951, he married Genevieve Cohen at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Wallace. After Paul's discharge from the service, the couple moved to Wellfleet where they built their home in 1953. Paul was active in the community activities, including Saint William’s Catholic Church, a 4-H leader, Wellfleet-Maywood School Board, Wellfleet Community Club, Knights of Columbus, Lincoln County Weed Board and Nebraska Rural Mail Carriers Association.
Paul will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy (Clayton) Schmitz and Mary Kay (Kent) Blackmon, both of Wellfleet; two sons, Michael (Janet) Coder of Wellfleet; and Dan (Elizabeth) Coder of Parker, CO.; one sister, Sue Kagarise of Newnan, GA; sister-in-law, Cathy Coder of Lincoln, brother-in-law, Niles Simmons of Wallace.
Grandchildren; Matt Schmitz of Maywood, Ann Marie (Chris) Blakely of North Platte, Bryan Schmitz (Kari) of Lincoln, Gennilee (Daniel) Woodburn of North Platte, Myka (Gus) Blount of Midland, Maddie (Chris) Linsicombe of Midland, TX Paul (Chassity) Coder of Midland, TX, and Cara (Micheal) Kavanagh of Lincoln, NE, Allison Coder of Denver, CO, and Hannah Coder, of Glenwood Springs CO, John Blackmon, Lincoln, NE and Mark Blackmon, North Platte, NE.
Great-grandchildren, Genna, Ellie and Tim Blakely; Savannah, Mattix and Gabby Woodburn; Carter and Henry Schmitz; Owen and Morgan Kavanagh; Augie and Adeline Blount; Bennett, Blakely and Reese Linsicombe and Callie Cooper.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Madeline and Donald Coder; grandson, Timothy Schmitz; two brothers, George, and Doug Coder; and brother-in-law, Richard Kagarise.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7th, at Saint William’s Catholic Church in Wellfleet with the Rev. Bernard Kimminau officiating. Burial will follow in Wellfleet Cemetery.
Visitation is noon to 7:00 p.m., Friday, with family receiving friends 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Friday, May 6, followed by Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Adams & Swanson Chapel, which is in charge of arrangements.
