North Platte, Neb. — A North Platte man has accepted plea deals in two separate criminal cases, including one involving a standoff with law enforcement and another where he allegedly held a woman against her will.

Court records show Kristopher Weitzel pleaded no contest to third-degree domestic assault and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person in Lincoln County District Court.
As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed several other charges, including use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony, assault by strangulation, false imprisonment, terroristic threats, and disturbing the peace.
According to arrest affidavits, Weitzel fired a shotgun in April 2024, prompting a standoff with law enforcement that ended with his arrest. In May, shortly after being released on bond, he allegedly assaulted a woman and confined her in a bedroom for three days.
Weitzel is scheduled to be sentenced in both cases on July 14.
