Kathryn Sue (Ferris) Minear (1958-2020)

     It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kathryn "Kathy" (Ferris) Minear of Lyons, Kansas on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri.

     Kathryn "Kathy" Sue (Ferris) Minear was born to George & Beverly (Stevens) Ferris on November 23, 1958 in North Platte, Nebraska.  She attended public school in North Platte and graduated from North Platte High School in May of 1977.  

     On April 17, 1982, she and Richard Minear of Mankato, Kansas were united in marriage at First United Methodist Church in North Platte, Nebraska.   To this union was born two children shortly after: daughter Mary Ann born February 27, 1984 and son Thomas Clayton born November 9, 1985.  The couple and their family continued to live in North Platte until 1988 when they moved to Lyons, Kansas.

     Kathryn was a dedicated and loving mother and as an animal lover, adopted several cats over the years into their home.  She was active through writing pen pals across the country.  As a loving member of her larger family, she was forever vigilante in sending out birthday greetings to her siblings, in-laws, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, as well.

     She will be greatly missed by all of her family and friends.

     Kathryn leaves behind her beloved husband, Richard, of Lyons, Kansas; daughter Mary and son Thomas of Great Bend, Kansas.  Other surviving family members include her father, George Ferris of Hastings, Nebraska, sister Pamela Larkin of Greeley, Colorado, sister Connie Astuto of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota; and brothers David Ferris of Las Cruces, New Mexico, and Michael Ferris of Dublin, Republic of Ireland.

     Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Assembly of God Church, 120 N. State St, Lyons, Kansas with Pastor Larry Schumacher officiating.  Burial will follow at Lyons Mumicipal Cemetery in Lyons, Kansas.  Memorials may be given to Friends of Animals Rice County in care of Birzer Funeral Home, 214 West Ave. South, Lyons, Kansas 67554.
