Patricia Bechan Rosenquist, age 92, of North Platte, Nebraska formerly of Chevy Chase, Maryland passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at Hilltop Estates in Gothenburg, NE. 

Patricia was born on June 11, 1931 in North Platte, NE the only child of Frank and Lillian (Carlson) Bechan.

Pat graduated from North Platte High School in 1949, University of NE at Lincoln in 1953 with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and English, graduate studies at Texas Tech University and San Francisco State College, and Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore with a Master of Arts in 1972.  Pat always had a great appreciation for education and tried to instill that in others as an educator.  She would meet the love of her life Glenn Carl Rosenquist while attending University of NE and they were married on September 6, 1953 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte, NE.  Together they would have six children, and she was a great support and helpmate to her husband while he completed his medical school training and residency.  The family lived in Philadelphia, PA, Lubbock, TX, San Francisco, CA, Lutherville, MD, Omaha, NE, and finally in Chevy Chase, MD.  Pat taught parenting classes for Baltimore City and Montgomery County (MD) public schools, Douglas County (NE) social agencies, Montgomery County (MD) Detention Center and Essex (MD) and Metropolitan Technical (NE) Community Colleges.  She was certified by the American Society of Family Life Educators.  Pat was very faithful and active in all of the Lutheran churches she attended over the years, singing in the choir and serving on various committees.  Pat loved to travel, was an excellent cook, avid writer and reader, and enjoyed entertaining family and friends.  She enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the family seaside retreat in North Shores, DE.  She was happiest when all her children and grandchildren were gathered together.  

She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Lillian, and husband of 61 years, Glenn.

She is survived by her children, Jane Rosenquist (Mike Condon) of Clarksville, TN, Dr. Peter Rosenquist (Debra) of Augusta, GA, John Rosenquist (Monica) of Chevy Chase, MD, Rev. Anne Durboraw (Justin) of North Platte, NE, Thomas Rosenquist (Crystal) of Los Angeles, CA, and Matthew Rosenquist (Heather Levine) of Los Angeles, CA; grandchildren, Stephen Condon (Katherine), Gregory Condon (Chelsi), Daniel Condon, Lillian and Julia Rosenquist, Glenn, Martha, Emma and Gilbert Durboraw, Elsie and Axel Rosenquist; great grandson, Nicholas Condon; brother in law, Bob Rosenquist of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Platte with Pastor Patrick Sipes officiating.  A luncheon will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.  Inurnment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the columbarium at Fort McPherson National Veterans Cemetery near Maxwell, NE.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lutheran World Relief or Lutheran Disaster Response.  Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte has been entrusted with the arrangements.
