
Alice Haines, of North Platte, died unexpectedly at home on December 5, 2021, at the age of 73.
Alice was born to John and Helen Haines on June 25, 1948, in Benkelman where she grew up. Alice graduated from Benkelman High School then married Marshell Schneider on July 2, 1968. They lived in Goodland, KS, before moving to North Platte. After the couple divorced, Alice moved to Ogallala and later married Larry Moreno in McCook where they resided.
Following her divorce from Larry, Alice returned to Benkelman and worked for the Post Office and Hester Nursing Home. After retiring in 2004, she moved back to North Platte where she has been ever since.
Alice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Benkelman. She loved Girl Scout Cookies and country music, but most of all, she loved and cared for Brittany and Gauge, they were her world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Helen Haines; and her cats, Snicker and Flower.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Nate) Nichelson, of North Platte and Janet (Carlos) Castillo, of Lexington; grandchildren, Brittany and Brandon Moreno, Carlos, Jr. and Rosalina Castillo, and Shane Nichelson; great-grandkids, Gauge Moreno and Adalynn Welch; her brother, Stanley (DeVonna) Haines, and special friend, Rhonda Seybold, of Benkelman; and other family.
