Lavonne Rae Baker, formerly of Callaway, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024, at Citizen's Medical Center in Colby, Kansas at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 14 days.
She was born on April 17, 1937, in Callaway, Nebraska to Billie Dale and Vera M (Lange) Strong. Lavonne attended school in Callaway, Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1954. On October 17, 1955 she married Roland (Ronnie) Baker. They lived in Grand Island & Gothenburg, Nebraska until they moved to Boulder, Colorado in 1965. They enjoyed dancing and Colorado Buffalo Football for many years. In 2020, she moved to Kansas where her youngest daughter lives. Lavonne always had a smile and was spunky and friendly to everyone she met. Lavonne is deeply missed but no longer in pain. We love you Mom, Grandma (Granny) until we meet again.
Survivors cherishing all the memories made with her include her daughters, Lynn R Baker of Longmont, Colorado and Jeri (Todd) Jacobs of Dresden, Kansas; Brother in law, Larry Smith of Seward, Nebraska; Grandchildren, Lynnette (Brent) Atkinson of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Adrienne Bochert of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Heather (Nick) Barnes of Gothenburg, Nebraska, Jerry Lahnanen Jr. of Colby, Kansas, Melissa (Jake) Baal of Cozad, Nebraska, Cassandra R Hart of Cleveland, Tennessee, Roxanne (Andrew) Frey of Brentwood, California, Joshua (Allison) Lahnanen of Bonner Springs, Kansas, Cody Jacobs of Hoxie, Kansas and Hayley Jacobs of Hoxie, Kansas. Also dear to her heart were her Great Grandchildren, Cole & Cade Atkinson, Tyson Bocher, Ayden & Mason Espinoza, Hattie, Morgan & Rowdy Barnes, Kambree Lahnanen, Ella & Brantley Baal, Amelia, Caleb & Lily Frey, Wyatt Lahnanen and Emersyn Jacobs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, twin sister, Lynnette and sister, Lois J Smith as well as her sons, Dale R Baker and Kenneth L Baker.
Graveside Services will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway, Nebraska on July 6, 2024, at 11:00 am.
