Cheryl Phelps of North Platte passed away at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, on July 9, 2024, at the age of 54.
Cheryl, the daughter of Paul and Carolyn Thomas, was born in Martinez, CA, on December 9, 1969. She grew up in California and eventually went to school to study zoology then worked as a zoo keeper for the Mickey Grove Zoo.
On June 12, 2009, Cheryl married Keith Phelps in Lodi, CA. They moved to North Platte a couple years later and Cheryl went to work for Twin Rivers Environmental Testing (now called Atlas).
Cheryl loved doing body work on cars, fishing and camping. She especially loved the 4th of July and going to Cody Park for ice cream. Cheryl leaves us with happy memories, but is gone all too soon.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry.
Survivors include her husband, Keith, and parents, Paul and Carolyn Thomas, all of North Platte; daughters, Heather Bornsen (Tyler) of North Platte and Tori Phelps of Oklahoma; son, Nathan Padgett of Ogallala; her sister, Sherry Kelly (C.K.) of California; granddaughters, Amelia and Madalyn; and other family.
