NORTH PLATTE, Nebraska, August 9, 2023— The Alzheimer’s Association invites North Platte Area residents to join the fight to end Alzheimer’s by participating in its Walk to End Alzheimer’s® on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Cody Park, 1601 N. Jeffers St, North Platte, NE. Check-in is at 8:00 a.m., the opening ceremony at 8:45 a.m. with the Walk to follow. Participants are encouraged to register early and fundraise to help the Alzheimer’s Association reach its $25,000 goal. Registration is free.
On Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer’s with the poignant Promise Garden ceremony — a mission-focused experience that signifies our solidarity in the fight against the disease. The colors of the Promise Garden flowers represent people’s connection to Alzheimer’s — their personal reasons to end the disease.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease — a leading cause of death in the United States. Additionally, more than 40,000 family members and friends provide care to 35,000 people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias in the state of Nebraska.
Please register at act.alz.org/NorthPlatte or contact Walk Manager Halie Fleecs at [email protected] for more information.
