Jean Ann Parry, age 80, of McCook, NE passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Tri Valley Health Systems in Cambridge, NE.

Jean was born September 27, 1943 in McCook to parents James Edward and Elizabeth (Swanson) Reynolds. She attended school in McCook, graduating from high school with the Class of 1961. Jean then attended McCook Junior College, graduating in 1964. In 1972, Jean graduated from Arizona State College and later earned a master’s degree in education from Kearney State College.

Jean married Thomas Parry on February 6, 1965.  The couple was blessed with three children.

Over the years, Jean taught at several area schools, spending many years at St. Patrick’s Catholic School. Outside of teaching, Jean loved her time at the family cabin and fishing, playing card games, reading, doing puzzles and macramé. She volunteered at the McCook Senior Center, the Bargain Bazaar Thrift Store and was very involved with the McCook recycling effort years ago.  Jean was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents.

Those left to celebrate her life include her children, James (Brenda) Parry of Lincoln, NE, Kelly (Sean) Lacey of Culbertson, NE, and Share Parry (Amy Grant) of Omaha, NE;  grandchildren, Bailey (Tony) Filips of Hershey, NE, Dexter (Dove) Lacey of Culbertson, NE, and Davis (Savannah) Parry and Preston Parry, all of Lincoln, NE; six great grandchildren, Jaxon Filips, Jordyn Lacey, Addison Filips, Tatum Lacey, Merritt Lacey, Hayden Filips and great grandchild number seven on the way.

Memorials can be given to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 409 East F Street. McCook, NE 69001.

Visitation with family present to greet friends will be held from 4 to 6 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.

Recitation of the Rosary will follow visitation, beginning at 6 pm on Monday, March 18, 2024, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook, with Father Bernard Kimminau as Celebrant.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, McCook, with Father Bernard Kimminau officiating.

Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, McCook.
