High speed chase in Dawson County ends near Gothenburg according to officials

Gothenburg, Neb. - High speed chase in Dawson County ends near Gothenburg according to the Dawson County Sheriffs Office.

According to officials, on April 8th, 2024, at approximately 8:47 pm the Dawson County Sheriff's Office was advised of a vehicle driven by a male subject that was possibly armed with a firearm and had an active out-of-state warrant for a felony offense. Deputies located the vehicle near Gothenburg on Interstate 80, and attempted contact with the subject.

After a brief verbal exchange, the male subject fled in the vehicle where it came to a stop in the Gothenburg area. Deputies approached the vehicle where it then fled and struck a tree. The name of the individual involved is being withheld at this time due to an ongoing investigation by South Central Law Enforcement Services.

The Dawson County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Nebraska State Patrol, Gothenburg Police Department, Gothenburg Fire Department and Dawson County Emergency Management.
