Bartels will also have copies of his award-winning 2018 children's book, What’s Going Down in Prairie Dog Town? with forward by Jane Goodall. Alan J. Bartels’s life took a fortunate turn when his family moved to the edge of the Sandhills in the mid-1980s. While traveling the world with the US Army following high school, all he could think of was home.
He’s the former editor of Nebraska Life magazine and the author of What’s Going Down in Prairie Dog Town? When not exploring the Sandhills, Alan works a day job devoted to natural resources conservation.
