Leland “Lee” R. Miller, age 75, of Culbertson, NE passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, NE.
Lee was born May 3, 1949, in McCook, NE to parents Raymond A. and Alma Katherine (Frick) Miller. He was one of five siblings who attended school in Culbertson, graduating with the Class of 1967. Lee then attended UNL for two years.
Lee enlisted in the United States Army and served his country from May of 1970 to December of 1971.
On December 12, 1975, Lee married Barbara J. (Blume) Miller in McCook. The couple made their home in Culbertson and were blessed with three daughters.
Lee was employed by the Village of Culbertson and in his free time, he enjoyed playing cards with friends and family, golfing, gardening and yardwork, working with his hands and renovating houses. He was a founding member of the Culbertson 4th of July Celebration and a member of the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department. Lee’s family was his pride and joy. Over the years Lee and Barb enjoyed attending their kids and grandkids many sporting and school events.
Lee was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers in law, Jerry Kotschwar, Cliff Rigg and Mike Elgert.
Those left to celebrate his life include his wife, Barb Miller of Culbertson, NE; daughters, Lesa (Mike) Tines of Culbertson, NE, Jenny (Jeff) Baker of Pender, NE and Laura Miller of South Sioux City, NE; sisters, Ramona Kotschwar of Culbertson, NE, Kasey Elgert, Jo Bunstock and Deb Gilliland, all of Lincoln, NE; seven grandchildren and a host of lifelong friends.
Memorial contributions are suggested to either the Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department, 411 Taylor Ave., Culbertson, NE 69024 or the Culbertson Rescue Squad, PO Box 421, Culbertson, NE 69024.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16th, 2024, from 5 to 7pm at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, McCook.
Recitation of the Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm on Friday, August 16th, 2024, at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 17th, 2024, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, McCook with Father Bernard Kimminau as Celebrant.
A burial with Military Honors will follow in the Culbertson Cemetery, Culbertson.
