SCOTTSBLUFF, Neb.-Scottsbluff police have secured a murder warrant for the suspect in a Tuesday evening shooting that left one woman dead.
Officers responded to the 1700 block of Avenue Z at around 5:00 p.m., where they found Karen Cooper, 63, who had been shot. Officers and medical personnel attempted to perform life-saving measures but were unable to.
Police were able to quickly identify the suspect as Davin Darayle Saunders, 38.
Saunders is still at large and is described as a black male, 5'11", weighing between 190 and 200 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
Police said Saunders has numerous tattoos, including on both forearms, script tattoos on his upper chest and neck, and a flaming skull above his navel.
Police said investigators obtained information that Saunders was in Cheyenne, Wyoming during the evening hours of May 24. It was also reported that he was seen walking from the Walmart in Cheyenne.
The warrant lists the charges against Saunders as one count of 2nd-degree murder, one count of possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person, and one count of use of a weapon to commit a felony. All charges are felonies.
Police said Saunders has an extensive history of violence and should be considered armed and dangerous. Do not approach or attempt to apprehend him.
