LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - The University of Nebraska closed all of its campuses Wednesday as the coronavirus outbreak worsens.

NU President Ted Carter announced the closures in an email Tuesday, citing public health models predicting a peak of COVID-19 cases sometime in late April, NET&nbsp;<a href="http://netnebraska.org/article/news/1214457/all-university-nebraska-campuses-closed-least-two-weeks-covid-19-peak-nears" target="_blank">reported</a>. The closure applies to most employees, including all student workers, for at least two weeks.

Carter said discussions are being held to determine which employees are necessary to remain campus.

"These may include all of our health care workers, public safety officers, housing and dining personnel and others," he said.

Employees are eligible to take up to 160 hours of emergency paid administrative leave. The email says employees should plan to work remotely "until further notice."

All four University of Nebraska campuses shut down in-person classes in mid-March and shifted to online classes in an effort to slow the spread of the new coronavirus.

LINCOLN, Neb.-Governor Pete Ricketts signed a proclamation designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Nebraska during his daily press briefing on the State’s response to coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19). &nbsp;He also announced temporary changes to the State’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, such as extending eligibility periods and providing emergency allotments to families for the months of April and May.

Stephanie Beasley, Director of the Division of Children and Family Services for the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS, joined the Governor at today’s press conference.&nbsp; She explained why children may be at higher risk of abuse during the pandemic.&nbsp; She also gave additional details on the State’s temporary changes to SNAP requirements and benefits.

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Today, I am announcing temporary changes to our SNAP program:

o&nbsp;&nbsp;Extending SNAP recertification periods by six months during the months of April and May.&nbsp;

o&nbsp;&nbsp;Permitting able-bodied adults without dependents, who are subject to work requirements and are unable to meet these requirements, to be able to receive more than three months of SNAP benefits within a 36-month period.

o&nbsp;&nbsp;Waiving the requirement that DHHS do an interview for every case prior to eligibility determination for SNAP benefits.

o&nbsp;&nbsp;Extending eligibility periods for other financial assistance programs to align with the SNAP extension.

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;SNAP applications increased 35% from February to March in Nebraska.

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Extending the SNAP recertification periods for the months of April and May will allow DHHS teammates to process these new applications.

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Emergency allotments provided to SNAP beneficiaries will be loaded directly onto recipients’ electronic benefits (EBT) cards. &nbsp;

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;SNAP benefit recipients can use their EBT cards to purchase groceries online through vendors such as Walmart and Amazon.&nbsp; SNAP online delivery through Walmart is still being rolled out in Nebraska, and is currently available in Norfolk and South Sioux City.

Gov. Ricketts: Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

o&nbsp;&nbsp;Last week they delivered 500,000 gloves. Today, they delivered 97,000 N95 respirators.&nbsp; These supplies will be given to health workers statewide.

o&nbsp;&nbsp;We are blessed to have a company like this in our state with expertise in the logistics industry.

·&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;In Scottsbluff, Home Depot donated masks, gloves, and other PPE to the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.

But McConnell wants to swiftly jam it through Congress this week, making the outcome uncertain. The action is set for Thursday.

“We’re going to take good care of our people,” Trump said Monday at his daily White House briefing. “It was not their fault.”

It’s a rare sign of emerging consensus as Washington responds to the public health emergency and severe&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/0aa967875547c5d63f22575dd2cf1aaa">economic fallout&nbsp;</a>that is ransacking communities nationwide, a crisis on par with a war effort or the Great Depression.

The contours of the package are still being debated and any votes in Congress remain a logistical conundrum. The House and Senate adjourned for most of the month, as part of strict stay-at-home orders from public health officials to prevent the spread of the highly contagious virus.

On an afternoon conference call with House Democrats, Pelosi told lawmakers at least another $1 trillion would be needed, according to a person unauthorized to discuss the call and granted anonymity.

The California Democrat has vowed to put the next package together in time for a House vote this month.

Former Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen joined the private call and warned Democrats the economic fallout will depend on the public health response to the pandemic, the person said. As businesses shutter to stop the virus’ spread, it has hurled the U.S. economy toward a recession.

Yellen said it was impossible to know how deep and long the recession would be, and added that it would depend on the health response.

The former Fed chair also told them the nation’s unemployment rate is now at least 13% and this week’s jobless report will show higher numbers than last week’s.

Yellen said she expects a 30 percent contraction of GDP this year, but has seen models as high as 50 percent, according to a Democratic aide unauthorized to discuss the call and granted anonymity.

The earlier relief package, approved in late March, included one-time $1,200 direct payments to Americans, along with forgivable small business loans for companies to keep making payroll. It also included a boost of unemployment pay, money for hospitals and a $500 billion fund for bigger corporations and industries.

Pelosi told Democrats said the $1,200 direct payments to Americans and the paycheck protection program for small businesses are not enough and more needs to be done, the person said.

She also said there needs to be more aid through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as food stamps.

Trump has favored direct checks to Americans, and gave a nod to another round in the next package.

“It is absolutely under serious consideration,” he said.

The shifts from the political leaders are stark amid what officials warn could be one of the toughest weeks for the country, as the number of confirmed cases and deaths climbs.

McConnell told The Associated Press on Friday that there will be another package and health care must be at the “top of the list.”

McConnell, R-Ky., said Congress should focus on correcting any shortcomings in the earlier $2.2 trillion aid bill and rely on health care experts for solutions to “wipe out” the virus.

Pelosi, D-Calif., last week also backed off her more sweeping proposals for an infrastructure package to put people back to work, focusing on the more immediate health care and economic needs.

As governors plead for federal intervention to provide hard-hit hospitals in New York and elsewhere with vital medical ventilators, equipment and supplies, Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer called for a better-coordinated effort to care for the many sick people.

Schumer told reporters on a conference call Monday that he’s urging the White House to appoint a single, well-qualified “czar” to handle both the production and distribution of medical supplies and equipment to fight the pandemic.

Right now, Schumer said, governors and other officials have no choice but to search out materials helter-skelter.

“Everyone’s hunting and pecking for the equipment and the supplies they need,” he said. “It’s just not working. It’s like a scavenger hunt for their lives.”

Schumer, D-N.Y., said he spoke to both Vice President Mike Pence and new White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and suggested three potential candidates for the job: two former vice chairmen of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, retired Air Force Gen. Paul Selva and retired Adm. James A. Winnefield, and retired Vice Adm. Mark Harnitchek, former director of the Defense Logistics Agency.

Trump, displeased with Schumer’s effort, accused the senator of being overtly political.

This would be the fourth package from Congress since the start of the virus outbreak. Two initial efforts were followed by the third last month, which was by far the largest, the most ambitious of its kind in U.S. history. With so much federal aid expected to be pushed so quickly to the public, Congress is also trying to swiftly stand up&nbsp;<a href="https://apnews.com/91bbb26d8557c7d697f757b931089611">oversight panels</a>.

Pelosi late last week announced the formation of a House select committee with subpoena power to monitor the decision-making and cash flow.

Trump seeks $250 billion more from Congress for payrolls

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska officials are concerned about the closure of schools, widespread job losses and social isolation could be driving an uptick in child abuse cases, the state's child welfare administrator said Tuesday.

Stephanie Beasley, director of Nebraska's Child and Family Services Division, said the coronavirus pandemic is putting a major strain on the families her agency serves.

Beasley said the pandemic is making it more difficult for children to get social services and for parents to get substance abuse treatment and counseling. Statewide school closures have also kept children at home and away from teachers, who are among the most likely to notice and report signs of abuse, she said.

"These stressors can create a recipe for child abuse and neglect," Beasley said at a press conference with Gov. Pete Ricketts.

Beasley said the state's child abuse hotline has seen a drop in calls, likely because fewer people are reporting abuse. She said the number of applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program increased an unusual 35% in March compared to the previous month, suggesting that more people are seeking public benefits to deal with job losses.

Ricketts said Tuesday he signed an executive order that would allow Nebraska's SNAP recipients to collect the benefit for an extra six months.

Meanwhile, two remote Nebraska counties reported their first cases of coronavirus, state health officials reported. The statewide number of cases had risen to 447 as of Tuesday afternoon, with 10 confirmed deaths. More than 6,800 residents have tested negative.

The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services said in a news release Monday night that Cheyenne County in the Nebraska Panhandle reported a woman in her 20s testing positive for COVID-19. The woman had been in close contact with another infected person.

On the opposite side of the state, in northeastern Nebraska's Stanton County, a man in his 60s with no underlying health conditions has tested positive for the virus. Officials said his case originates from "community spread," meaning health officials can't trace the source of the infection.

Both counties are rural and sparsely populated, with about 10,000 people calling Cheyenne County home and little more that 6,000 people in Stanton County.

For most people, COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. Older adults and people with existing health problems are among those particularly susceptible to more severe illnesses.

Nebraska officials fear pandemic could fuel more child abuse

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-The North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation has teamed up with the City of North Platte to launch a job retention/business retention program funded by $250,000 from the Quality Growth Fund to provide technical assistance grants to help businesses apply for federal assistance through the federal CARES Act.

This proposal is providing small grants to all businesses needing to pay for independent third-party costs associated with SBA technical assistance, loan packaging, and funding related expenses.   Eligibility would be for “up to $2,500” per operating business entity, on the direct loan EIDL program.

If your business needs technical assistance in preparing for the Payroll Protection Program (PPP) when preparing documents for your bank, up to $1,000 is allocated for third party assistance.  Businesses will need to work directly with their bank on the PPP program as the loan will filter through the lending institution.   In this case, the third-party assistance provider such as an accountant or attorney, can NOT act as an agent for the applicant, and only assist with the preparation.  Be sure and get clarity from your banker, per following SBA guidelines.

The PPP is proving the most popular filing for businesses and the simplest in getting some immediate relief.

The funds are not to be used for banks and landlords.  In addition to the third-party provider, it can also cover costs such as title search and other hard applicable costs.

Each business can choose their own professional assistance provider with the applicable information available on the Chamber &amp; Development website homepage at www.nparea.com, along with a continuously updated Business Resource Guide linking all the programs.

When the COVID-19 crisis descended upon an ever-evolving restricted business environment in mid to late March, the North Platte Area Chamber and Development Corporation was quick to assemble a task force to set guidelines in place for the program. The task force will continue as an advisory panel to oversee the program.

The Quality Growth Fund Citizen’s Advisory Committee and the North Platte City Council unanimously voted to fund the technical assistance program.  We thank those pubic officials for their swift action to get this in place.

Simultaneously a plea was made to Chamber and Development accounting and legal professionals and others to gauge their interest in providing technical assistance.  A dozen firms signed up to become those providers.  

Federal Programs are allocating $320 Billion to Small Business relief in the form of the SBA direct and indirect loans, with grant provisions.

The local and federal programs are designed primarily as a job retention program, providing capital to preserve the jobs during the tough economic crisis and help the economy and businesses stay functional under the restrictions.

Detailed invoices from the third-party provider would be the proof of the expenditure and evidence will need to be provided of the SBA application filing and the retention of jobs.

How to talk to your kids about the coronavirus outbreak

NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-With schools closed and many parents working from home, students and adults have more time to spend on social media and online in general.

With that in mind, North Platte Chief of Police Daniel Hudson wanted to give parents and students some things to watch out for and keep in mind.

Chief Hudson issued the following statement:

The
North Platte Police Department would like to take a minute and
discuss some social media safety concerns we have been seeing. As
our community remains safely at home, we are seeing several different
social media postings asking people to answer different questions
about themselves. These are mostly presented as ways to better get
to know each other during these crazy times.

The
issue that we see is that the questions people are answering are
almost verbatim questions about a person’s credit history reports. 
This is the way credit applications or credit companies verify a
person’s identity. If you lock yourself out of an account, there
are several questions that are in your credit history, you will be
prompted to answer several of these type questions, for instance;

Which
of the following jobs have you held? A,B ,C,D…

Which
of the following cities have you lived? A,B,C,D…

Which
of the following schools have you attended? A,B,C,D…

What
other names have you gone by? A,B,C,D…

List
four jobs you have had and list one that you haven’t?

These
types of questions are on your credit history, so as you pick the
answers, the credit company is able to identify you and will then
reset your password or pin number on your cards or accounts.

On Tuesday, April 7, 2020, the Creation Station inside the library began printing face shield parts for Great Plains Health workers. 

Mayor Livingston inquired about the 3D printing services at the library after a meeting last week, and today, the library received hospital specifications to begin production. 

"We are happy to be a part of the fight against the coronavirus”, said Cecelia Lawrence, Library Director.

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Even as most Americans are under orders from their governor to stay at home to slow the spread of the coronavirus, leaders in a handful of states have steadfastly refused to take that action, arguing it's unneeded and could be harmful.

Nine governors have refused to issue statewide mandates that people stay at home, but local leaders have taken action in some of those states. North Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa and Arkansas are the only states where no one is under a stay-at-home order.

The lack of action from those governors - even as they take other steps such as closing schools and limiting the size of gatherings - has frustrated health experts and left some residents puzzled.

"If social distancing maneuvers are going to work, they're most likely going to work if you do them early," said Arthur L. Reingold, a professor and infectious disease expert at the University of California-Berkeley. "The longer you wait, the harder it is for them to have a substantial impact on transmission of the virus."

That also has been the message of Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation's top infectious disease expert, who has said all states should have statewide orders that people remain at home.

Fauci on Monday credited the governors of Nebraska and Iowa for what steps they have taken to slow the virus, but David Leeson, a retiree in Winterset, Iowa, said he can't understand why restrictions that make sense in most of the country haven't been imposed in his home state.

"I think it's idiotic," Leeson said. "The only way this is going to work is to have every state under the same rules."

Nearly 305 million people live in the 41 states or Washington, D.C., which mandate people stay at home, compared with less than 9 million in the states without such mandatory orders. Enforcement of the rules, however, varies.

The new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms for most people, but for some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness or death.

All of the states without statewide or local orders are in the central U.S. Each has a Republican governor, and while they all have hundreds of coronavirus cases and some deaths, the numbers are significantly less than the hardest-hit areas.

Even as Iowa's coronavirus cases have grown to more than 1,000 with 26 deaths and the state's medical board has recommended a stay-at-home order, Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds maintains that demanding people not leave their homes would threaten their mental health.

"We are a connected community. There's just that side of it as well," Reynolds said. "In addition to suicides and domestic abuse there are a lot of downsides to it as well."

At the same time, Reynolds has closed schools and ordered the closure of most retail establishments other than grocery stores and gas stations. She argues her moves match or exceed most states.

North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum noted the rural nature of his state and voiced skepticism that a stay-at-home order was needed.

For Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, his targeted actions to slow the virus are intended to protect the thousands of people who would otherwise lose their jobs, including employees at clothing stores that have remained open.

"People are making their own decision to stay home, and that's exactly what they should be doing, unless there's an absolute necessity to get out," Hutchinson said last week.

Nebraska Gov. Pete Ricketts, who has banned gatherings of more than 10 people, speculated that many residents might eventually ignore tougher restrictions.

"What we don't want is to have people start this too early, and then they get tired and start breaking the ban," Ricketts said.

The governors' reasoning doesn't sit well with some residents.

"Not only as a nurse, but as a father of two and a husband, I resent the attitude coming from our governor's office of 'It's just not bad enough yet," said Ryan Mauk, a registered nurse who works with intensive care patients in Fargo, North Dakota, and who says he continues to see people gathering in groups. "It's bad enough. And it's only going to get worse unless we act."

In Utah, Wyoming, South Carolina and Oklahoma, where governors have declined to issue mandatory statewide stay-at-home orders, some local officials have taken it upon themselves to direct people to stay home.

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert and Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon have asked people to stay home - a request that doesn't carry any penalties. In Wyoming - the only state with no known deaths from COVID-19 - Gov. Mark Gordon similarly has urged people to stay home.

In South Dakota, Gov. Kristi Noem issued a limited stay-at-home mandate that applies only to people in the two hardest-hit counties who are older than 65 or who have chronic health conditions.

Noem's action Monday came amid criticism that she hasn't done enough, including an online petition started by Amy Taylor, a Sioux Falls nurse.

"My fear is that we're going to wait until it's too late," Taylor said.

But, as a social psychologist&nbsp;<a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2018-30815-001">who studies boredom</a>, I know that people don’t always make the best choices when bored. So if you’re stuck at home, dutifully practicing your social distancing, how do you keep boredom away?

We can feel bored even with jobs and activities that appear to be meaningful. Once that happens, individuals might struggle&nbsp;<a href="https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/1745691612456044">to stay focused</a>.Reducing boredom requires that individuals solve the problems that produced it – not having sufficient activities that are both meaningful and optimally challenging.However, sometimes people turn to activities that make them feel better in the moment, but that don’t provide long-term meaning or challenge. For instance, studies have shown that people are willing&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.psychres.2016.01.063">to self-administer electric shocks</a>&nbsp;when bored.Other behaviors linked to greater susceptibility to boredom include increased&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.abrep.2016.05.001">alcohol intake</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.15288/jsad.2009.70.279">marijuana use</a>. Boredom is also tied to&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.3389/fpsyg.2015.00369">unhealthy snacking</a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1080/23808985.2019.1584045">online pornography.</a>While these may feel good in the moment, they provide only temporary relief from boredom. To prevent boredom and keep it away, we need to find solutions at home that provide lasting meaning and challenge.1. Remind yourself why you’re doing thisPeople&nbsp;<a href="https://experts.illinois.edu/en/publications/the-social-creation-of-action-and-inaction-from-concepts-to-goals">generally prefer doing something to doing nothing</a>. As staying home is the most effective way to prevent the further transmission of the coronavirus, it is meaningful to socially isolate. However, it may not always feel that way.Like all emotions, boredom is about&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1016/j.tics.2007.08.005">whatever you’re thinking at the moment</a>. That means staying at home will only feel meaningful when we’re actively thinking about the greater good it does. For instance, in studies, when students were prompted to reflect on why their schoolwork mattered to them personally, researchers&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1037/a0019506">found that their interest in learning</a>&nbsp;increased.In other words, reframing our activity changes how we feel about it.Creating simple reminders, such as a note on the fridge, or a morning meditation, can help us keep the big picture in view: Staying home is a sacrifice we’re actively making for the good of others.2. Find a rhythmRoutines structure our days, and&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1177/0146167218795133">provide a sense of coherence that bolsters our meaning in life</a>. People’s lives feel more meaningful in moments when they’re engaged in daily routines.We lose those routines when we give up going to the office, or when we are laid off. Even retirees or stay-at-home parents are disrupted by closures to cities, restaurants and schools. This loss of routine can&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1007/s11031-011-9234-9">foster feelings of boredom</a>.By creating new routines, people can restore a sense of meaning that buffers them from boredom.3. Go with the flowFiguring out what to do when faced by long days unstructured by work or school&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1080/00222216.1990.11969811">can be hard</a>. A recent study of people in quarantine in Italy found that boredom was the&nbsp;<a href="https://gking.harvard.edu/files/gking/files/covid-italy.pdf">second most common issue</a>, after loss of freedom.One thing that makes such situations hard is that it can be tricky to find activities that are just challenging enough to keep one occupied, without being too demanding. This situation can leave people&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1007/s11031-018-9710-6">bored and frustrated</a>.It helps to keep in mind that what counts as too challenging, or not challenging enough,&nbsp;<a href="https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&amp;lr=&amp;id=_KfaN4gKP8MC&amp;oi=fnd&amp;pg=PA3&amp;ots=S0F3Gm33qu&amp;sig=noD7nUlI8K-ZLsg67EJlJQsKbfg#v=onepage&amp;q&amp;f=false">will shift throughout the day</a>. Don’t force yourself to keep at it if you need a break.4. Try something newBoredom urges many of us&nbsp;<a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2018-12206-001?casa_token=Lmu1jhYgupoAAAAA:NOacK625w1fSlXPHXuUxmaiOoX-MxiWXbVYJ6AO2dONvzPo3q6_Z0L53voGSAPWZnYKvvzPz1FYB6YooU7FOwV90">towards the novel</a>. Embrace that urge, judiciously. If you have the energy, try a new recipe, experiment with home repairs, learn a new dance on TikTok.Doing new things not only relieves boredom, it helps acquire new skills and knowledge&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1177/0963721419884309">that may relieve boredom</a>&nbsp;in the long run. For instance, we feel a surge of interest when we read an interesting novel or go through complex experiences, but&nbsp;<a href="https://psycnet.apa.org/record/2005-02259-008">only if we have the capacity</a>&nbsp;to understand them.Evidence shows that embracing new experiences, can help us lead not only a happy or meaningful life, but a&nbsp;<a href="https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0092656619300649">psychologically richer</a>&nbsp;one.5. Make room for guilty pleasuresIt’s okay to binge on television,&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1037/rev0000097">if that’s all you can handle</a>&nbsp;at the moment.We sometimes paint ourselves into a box where our most meaningful hobbies are also&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.12968/bjmh.2012.1.4.232">mentally taxing or effortful</a>. For instance, digging into a classic Russian novel may be meaningful, but it doesn’t necessarily come easily.Similarly, well-intentioned suggestions for how to cope at home, such as hosting a virtual wine-and-design night, may be&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1037/emo0000278">simply too exhausting</a>&nbsp;to be pleasurable at a time when many of us are already struggling.Give yourself permission to enjoy your guilty pleasures. If need be,&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1027/1864-9335/a000398">reframe those moments</a>&nbsp;as much-needed mental refreshment, nourishing and recharging you for a later date.6. Connect with othersFinding&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1177/0963721416656354">easy meaningful alternatives</a>&nbsp;– bite-sized options that don’t take much effort, but that we find deeply rewarding – can be a challenge.Luckily one good option is open to us all:&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1080/17439760.2010.516616">connecting with others</a>, whether virtually or for those lucky enough not to be quarantined alone – in-person.Looking at old photos, or reminiscing with a friend, are&nbsp;<a href="https://doi.org/10.1177/0022167899394003">simple meaningful actions</a>&nbsp;most of us can take even when we’re not feeling our best. One does not need a reason to call up a friend – our best socializing&nbsp;<a href="https://www.happinesslab.fm/coronavirus-bonus-episodes/beat-your-isolation-loneliness">is the kind that happens casually</a>, in the unstructured time between scheduled activities.Create room for that virtually as well: Next time you’re pouring a glass of wine or watering the plants, call up a friend while you do it. Make dinner together.
