Floyd Eugene Wever, 94, of Sutherland, passed away September 1, 2021 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born on January 19, 1927 to Frank and Dora (House) Wever at O’Fallons. Floyd graduated from O’Fallons High School with the class of 1945.&nbsp; He married Beulah Coker on March 16, 1946 in Sutherland.&nbsp; They made their home in O’Fallons on the Wever family homestead.&nbsp; They later moved to Sutherland and built a house on the Coker family homestead. Floyd hired on with the Union Pacific Railroad and worked as a switchman and brakeman, retiring after 32 years of service.&nbsp; He spent much of his time with his wife Beulah and they followed their grandchildren’s activities.&nbsp; They spent winters in Yuma, Arizona and spent time socializing and travelling all over the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Floy Virginia Phillips, 82, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the home of her daughter Brenda, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 9, 1938, in Beaumont, TX. She was the daughter of the late Luther Claude Morrison and Jessie Gray (Allums) Morrison.&nbsp; From the time of her birth, until high school graduation in 1956, in Albuquerque, NM, Floy and her family moved across the United States living in multiple different states, following her father’s work.&nbsp; While in high school she met sweetheart and soon-to-be husband, Calvin.&nbsp; Following graduation, she eloped with Calvin to Oceanside, CA, where he was stationed in the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton.&nbsp; While there, Floy worked as a telephone operator with Pacific Bell for 4 years.&nbsp; Following the birth of her son Michael, in 1958, the family moved to Moline, Illinois, where her daughter Brenda was born in 1961. &nbsp;They then moved to Wisconsin where she raised her family and was a stay-at-home mother.&nbsp; In 1966, they moved to New Mexico, where she worked at the New Mexico State Police as a finger printer and dispatcher, a waitress, and with the gas company of New Mexico as a line engineer.&nbsp; On October 29, 1988 she married her second husband, Lewis in Mancos, CO. Floy was a strong independent woman. Her relationship with the Lord was the main focus of her life. She loved sharing the Good News to everyone in her life.&nbsp; She enjoyed leading Bible study, studying the Bible, family history, genealogy, and reading.&nbsp; She had a passion for quilting and needlework.&nbsp; Floy also enjoyed teaching quilting and showed her quilts at many county fairs here in NE and CO. She attended Two Rivers Fellowship Church in North Platte and served over the years in various churches as clerk, treasurer, and Bible Study leader.&nbsp; Floy was a member of the Newcomer’s Club here in North Platte. She is survived by her son, B. Michael Hecht (Deborah); daughter, Brenda M. Malcom (Gale); brother, L. Kent Morrison (Patricia); grandchildren, Charles “Chuck” Anderson, Craig Anderson (Sarah), Christina Havig (Garrett), Allyson “Ally” Tenhagen (Landon), and Addison “Addie” Hecht; and 7 great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her parents, L. Claude and Jessie G. Morrison; first husband, Calvin Hecht; second husband, Lewis E. Phillips; great-granddaughter, Hailey Grace Havig; and brother, Jerry Wayne Morrison. (Gumb) Dunkel was born February 17, 1925 in Chambers, Nebraska to CW and Daisy (Parker) Gumb. &nbsp;She started school in Holt County and continued there until age 10.&nbsp; &nbsp;She then moved with her family to Garfield County in 1935.&nbsp; Norma grew up on a ranch northeast of Burwell. Norma married George Dunkel on February 6, 1941 in Hyannis, NE.&nbsp; To this 63 year union two daughters and one son were born. George and Norma made their home on a ranch in Holt County until 1954, they then moved to a ranch near Crookston, NE.&nbsp; The family moved into Valentine in 1966.&nbsp; Norma opened a used clothing store soon after moving to Valentine.&nbsp; She ran this store until 2015 when she was forced to close because of poor health.&nbsp; Norma loved water fights, family reunions and raising a garden.&nbsp; She passed away August 31, 2021 at Community Memorial Nursing Home in Burwell, NE. at age 96.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her husband George who passed away December 1, 2004, her parents, 5 sisters, 2 brothers and grandson Todd Dunkel. Norma is survived by daughters Kathy (Lonnie) Hughes of Sargent, NE, JoAnn (Richard) Bellin of Montrose, S.D. and Son Dean (Karin) Dunkel&nbsp; of Valentine.&nbsp; Also surviving is brother Ray Gumb of Burwell, 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Then on November 9, 1955, he married Naomi Pirnie, they had three sons Kyle, Ken, and Kerwin. Weldon farmed around the Mason City area, then the couple moved to Napa, ID and worked for Meridian Wood, farmed, and had a dairy. They moved back to Nebraska around 1963, then moving to farm at Amherst in 1969, where he ran a dairy and farmed. In his spare time, he loved to fish and collect toy tractors. Weldon is survived by his wife Naomi of Amherst, sons Kyle Bramer of Kearney, Ken (Sherry) Bramer of Amherst, and Kerwin (Jane) Bramer of Amherst, a brother of Colorado, grandchildren: Misty (Alan) Casper, Brandon (Sarah) Bramer, Brett (Ashley) Bramer, Jared (Autumn) Bramer, Kent (Laura) Bramer, Brian (Shelby) Bramer, Dustin Bramer &amp; (friend Delanie), nine great grandchildren and he loved them all dearly. Weldon was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Lena, two brothers Wesley and Merlyin, daughter-in-law Linda Bramer, and a granddaughter Deanna Bramer.

Weldon Bramer (1931-2021)

Ruth Lenore (Frosh) Ross 82 of Arnold went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. Ruth was born at home in Kilmer Valley South of Arnold to Fred and Lenore Frosh.&nbsp; &nbsp;At the age of 7, Ruth accepted Christ as her savior during Bible School at the Tallin Church. She always strived to humbly be an example of Christ in all that she did. She attended Prairie View Country School District# 132 until the 8th&nbsp;grade when she then moved to town to attend Arnold High School, graduating in 1957. Two years later, Ruth married her sweetheart in Callaway, NE at the United Methodist Church on March 22, 1959. They made their home on Stop Table until 1966 when the purchased a farm northeast of Arnold, where they raised three children.&nbsp; Ruth will be fondly remembered as a companion and partner in all of the aspects of being a farm wife, from operating a grain cart to preparing delicious meals for family and hired men.&nbsp; She was a very loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she delighted in family, but particularly all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren coming to visit.  </figure>Ruth Lenore (Frosh) Ross 82 of Arnold went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, in her home surrounded by family. Ruth was born at home in Kilmer Valley South of Arnold to Fred and Lenore Frosh.&nbsp; &nbsp;At the age of 7, Ruth accepted Christ as her savior during Bible School at the Tallin Church. She always strived to humbly be an example of Christ in all that she did. She attended Prairie View Country School District# 132 until the 8th&nbsp;grade when she then moved to town to attend Arnold High School, graduating in 1957. Two years later, Ruth married her sweetheart in Callaway, NE at the United Methodist Church on March 22, 1959. They made their home on Stop Table until 1966 when the purchased a farm northeast of Arnold, where they raised three children.&nbsp; Ruth will be fondly remembered as a companion and partner in all of the aspects of being a farm wife, from operating a grain cart to preparing delicious meals for family and hired men.&nbsp; She was a very loving and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she delighted in family, but particularly all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren coming to visit. Ruth Ross (1939-2021)

Jana Jo (Roesener) Pribbeno was born in Imperial, Nebraska on January 16, 1960. She passed away in her home in Imperial on August 25, 2021. She was 61 years of age. She was the second child born to her parents, John Roesener and Joyce (Jaeger) Roesener. Jana graduated from Chase County High School in 1978 and attended Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colorado to study art. Jana was working at Frenchman Valley Coop when she returned to Imperial, when she met Michael Pribbeno, the love of her life. The two were married on February 12, 1983. Jana and Michael welcomed their daughter, Leslie, to the family on December 18, 1983, and Tyler, on April 11, 1985. Leslie and Tyler were Jana’s pride and joy and she made it a point to give them every possible opportunity and new experience. Jana not only provided a loving home to her two children, but also to countless friends of theirs. Jana was the mother to many, especially for several years driving across the state for traveling basketball tournaments and high school athletics. Shortly after Tyler’s birth, Mike and Jana moved the family to the Denver metro area, but later returned so Leslie and Tyler could attend school in Imperial rather than in a large city. After returning to Imperial, Jana worked for New Holland and Brophy Electric. Jana eventually started Essential Creations, a party decoration service, which allowed her creativity to shine. She decorated more than a hundred weddings in Chase and Perkins counties between 1993 and 2003, and always tried to make the day special for each bride and groom. Jana later worked for Pribbeno Construction, allowing her to work alongside Michael. She was one of the few people able to tell her father-in-law, Kent, what to do with his opinions when he disagreed with her. Like everyone else to whom she crossed paths, even “Prib” was won over by Jana. In 2000, Jana joined the Imperial Republican staff, at first working in the dark room and later transitioning to advertising representative. Jana was loved by everyone she worked with, and her attention to detail, creativity, and loyalty to her customers helped her blossom in this role. Her customers always came first, and she spent many evenings and weekends to meet their needs. In 2002, Jana became the proudest grandmother when Leslie gave birth to Ethan, or “E-Man” as Jana liked to call him. Ethan spent a lot of time with Grandma Jana and Grandpa Mike. His favorite toys were construction equipment and tractors. Grandma Jana enjoyed spending weekends watching Ethan dig holes with his backhoe and was always quietly thrilled when he would slip away from his parents to ride his bike to see Grandma when he was just three years old. In 2007, Jana welcomed her granddaughter, Madelyn Grace, (forever “Gracie” to Jana), to the world and instantly doted on her. Jana was so proud of Gracie, and no one ever made her laugh more, especially as Gracie took an interest in dancing and tumbling around the house. Jana loved to play dolls and “Memory” with her Gracie, and watching her grow into a beautiful young lady. Jana always recognized the importance of being a volunteer in a small community and serving the community and the people she loved. Jana coached Leslie’s softball teams; was the Den Leader for Tyler’s Boy Scouts troop; taught Sunday School for a number of years; organized large, local traveling basketball tournaments for 4th-8th grade boys and girls; assisted many classes decorate for homecoming and prom dances; served on the Chamber of Commerce board and as President; organized the week-long visit of a traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall to Imperial; co-founded and organized Smokin’ on Broadway, and assisted creating the Veterans Memorial and gathered information to honor Chase County veterans. Jana was a devout Christian and put her faith in God. She rests peacefully in His Kingdom. Jana’s hobbies included drawing, reading, golfing, collecting Coca Cola memorabilia, cheering for her beloved Gonzaga Bulldogs, rock ‘n’ roll, having a “Coke” or guac &amp; margaritas with friends or family members, and going for a drive with Michael. Kenneth Lynn Kitt was born July 20, 1954, at Imperial, Nebraska, to Robert D. and Patricia A. (Newman) Kitt. As a young man, Kenny (as he was known), grew up and attended school in Wauneta, graduating from Wauneta High School in 1972. Kenny continued his education at Colorado State University, in Greeley, Colorado. Kenny returned to the Wauneta area and assisted in operating the family farm. He was also affiliated with Rain and Hail Insurance Company as a crop and claims adjuster for many years. Kenny enjoyed golfing and socializing. He especially loved following his boys, Eric and Eron while they were in athletics, and never missed a sporting event. Kenny passed away Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at his home at rural Wauneta, Nebraska. He was 67 years of age. Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Pat. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at 10:00am at Grace Chapel in Scottsbluff, NE, with Bruce Peterson officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Banner County. A viewing will be held at Dugan Kramer Funeral Chapel on Friday Sept 3 from 4-7pm. Garrett was raised in Harrisburg, NE. He took his military oath and entered into service in November of 2014 while still in high school. Prior to beginning his senior year in high school in the summer of 2015, he completed United States basic training at Ft. Jackson, SC. Additionally, Garrett joined the Banner County Fire Department where he served as a firefighter and as an EMT. Upon graduating from high school in 2016, he completed AIT (Advanced Individual Training) at Joint Base San Antonio-Sam Houston in Texas. His Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) was Combat Medic. Garrett then served in the Nebraska Amy National Guard prior to transferring to United States Army Active Duty whereupon he relocated to his first duty station at Ft. Carson in Colorado. He was later stationed at Ft. Campbell in Kentucky. It was apparent to all who knew him that Garrett truly had a heart for serving others, and, as such, he never failed to lend his assistance to anyone who needed it whenever the opportunity arose, no matter what the circumstances. He was certainly a person whose very existence made the world around him a better place. He will be missed more than words can convey.

Frank Lynn Carland, 64, of North Platte passed away Tuesday, August 31st at his home.

Frank was born August 22nd, 1957 to Charles and Mary Carland in Omaha. He grew up in North Platte and earned his GED at Mid Plains Community College.

Frank married Katie Jefferson and from this union there were three children, Misty, April and Crystal.

On October 22nd, 1989 Frank married the love of his life, Sandi, in North Platte. From this union Frank gained two more daughters, Amber and Crystal.

Frank graduated from Mid Plains Community College in 1994 with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration and he was also a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He was a dedicated long-time member of Keep North Platte and Lincoln County Beautiful. Frank worked for the City of North Platte from 1986 to 2016 when he had to retire due to his health.

Frank will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, infectious laugh and unconditional love. He never knew a stranger and would undoubtedly greet you with a smile and a “How are you doing?” anytime, anywhere. No one ever had to question how much he loved his family or how proud he was of them. He was always looking out for all of them even until his very last day. His family will miss him more than words could ever explain.

Frank was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, in-laws, siblings, a dear friend Laura, his “partner in crime” and cousin Oopie and grandson Franklin.

Madge “Shirley” Miller, 88, of North Platte, NE, passed away peacefully with her husband and eldest daughter by her side, on Monday, August 16, 2021 at Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, KS. Shirley was born on January 1, 1933 on the Isle of Man, England, United Kingdom. &nbsp; She was the daughter of the late Eric Lewin Callow and Eleanor May (Cowley) Callow.&nbsp; Raised on the Isle of Man, she was involved in competitive badminton and tennis matches.&nbsp; She later moved to mainland England to join the Queen’s Royal Air Force service.&nbsp; She then immigrated along with her first husband and eldest daughter to the United States.&nbsp; Shirley’s family expanded having three more daughters to this union.&nbsp; During this time, she managed the Richardson Travel Agency located at the Pawnee Hotel for several years, working alongside her dear friend Bonnie Baade. She was married on October 23, 1968 at Kearney, NE to her loving and devoted husband of 52 years, Lyle L. Miller. Shirley had a great sense of humor, was very compassionate, tolerant, spoke her mind, and was fun loving.&nbsp; She also enjoyed playing cards, computer games, and gambling at the boats in Council Bluffs, IA.&nbsp; She enjoyed knitting sweaters for her family. In addition to her husband Lyle, she is survived by daughters, Shirley Anne Tuenge, Bonny Jo Branting, Ruth Marie Coffman and Wendy Sue Lockard; stepdaughter, Deb Ryan; stepsons, David Leroy Miller and Ronnie Lee Miller; several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren (with 1 on the way), and step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Eva (nee Callow) and Ann (nee Callow); brother, Paul Callow; and other family and friends.&nbsp; Shirley was predeceased by her parents; brother, Richard Callow; grandson, Robert James Branting and step-sons, Vincent Troy Miller and Danny Leon Miller. Norma’s strong faith got her through the deaths of Lowell, her daughter Janelle, and her fight with cancer. Norma moved to Liberty Square in Broken Bow after the death of her husband. Pat Langford (1931-2021)

Ronald Jess Clark, age 86, a longtime resident of McCook and a longtime administrator for McCook Public Schools, passed away at his home in McCook on Sunday morning, August 29, 2021.&nbsp; Ron was born on February 21, 1935 to Jess Albert and Evangeline (Connor) Clark at their home south of Haigler, Nebraska.&nbsp; He was welcomed by older siblings, sister, Velda and brother, Dean.&nbsp; At the age of four years, Ron came down with polio.&nbsp; His father found a bicycle in Omaha for him to ride, exercising his legs after many months of being in casts.&nbsp; At that time in the “dirty 30’s”, it was extremely difficult to find bicycles.&nbsp; Ron attended country school and then Haigler High School where he graduated with the class of 1952.&nbsp; While growing up, he spent countless hours playing town team baseball where he was a pitcher on Sunday afternoons.&nbsp; In high school, he loved playing football.&nbsp; After graduation, Ron attended Chadron State Teacher’s College where he played football and was a pitcher on the baseball team.&nbsp; He always wanted to play professional baseball and was being scouted when a shoulder injury forced him to make a different career choice.&nbsp; In 1955, he graduated with his teaching degree and taught English and coached at Maxwell, Lewellen and Lodgepole, Nebraska, where he also served as principal. It was in Lewellen, that he met Karen McCormick and they were united in marriage.&nbsp; They had three daughters, Keri, Rona, and Dana.&nbsp; Ron and Karen would later divorce.&nbsp; At a very busy time in his life, Ron decided he needed to go back to Chadron to obtain his master’s degree, driving back and forth three nights a week from Lodgepole.&nbsp; In 1967, he packed up his small family and moved to McCook, Nebraska, where he was principal for Eastward and Central Elementary Schools.&nbsp; He retired in 1995.&nbsp; Ron was past president of the NAESP. He was united in marriage to Diane Callan in March of 1995.&nbsp; After retiring, they moved to Lake McConaughy, where he could hunt and fish with his friends.&nbsp; The couple later moved back to McCook to help care for Diane’s mother.&nbsp; In 1999, Eustis-Farman schools called and asked Ron to be an interim principal for a year; he jumped at the chance and loved it.&nbsp; He said that he was always blessed with the best secretaries and teachers to make his job easier. Ron was an avid reader.&nbsp; He also enjoyed trapshooting, traveling to many events in and out of state.&nbsp; Ron suffered from Parkinson’s and dementia for several years, preventing him from doing the many things that he loved in life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Evangeline Clark; sister, Velda Smith and husband, Jimmy; brother, Dean Clark; nephew, Craig Clark; great-nephew, David Clark; and mother-in-law, Ruth Bridgmon. Survivors include his wife, Diane of McCook; daughters, Keri Hammond of Lincoln, Nebraska, Rona Isaacson and husband, Bob, of Holdrege, Nebraska and Dana Clark of North Platte, Nebraska; stepsons, Darin Callan and wife, Cari, Derick Callan and wife, Tracy, and Dan Callan and wife, Carrie; eight grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Phyllis Clark and Donna Fortin; brother-in-law, David Bridgmon and many nieces and nephews. Dennis Grafel (1951-2021)

Delmore Elwood Olson was born September 28th,1925, on the family farm near Upland Nebraska, to Carl and Anna (Johnson) Olson. He lived in Upland until the age of twelve when the family moved to Brule,&nbsp;Nebraska. Del received his early education in Upland and then at rural school Cottonwood Corner near Brule where he graduated from the eighth grade. &nbsp;He met Frances Deen at a dance and they fell in love.&nbsp; They were united in marriage on January 24th,1954 in Grant Nebraska. They were blessed with two children, Janice and Duane, whom they adopted from the Omaha Children’s Home.&nbsp; Raising the children was the most important thing in their lives.&nbsp; Del and Frances were also foster parents to many children throughout the years.&nbsp; Del was drafted into the Army and served in Korea as an engineer.&nbsp; After being discharged in 1956, he returned to Keith County. He and Francis farmed together south of Brule. They began their construction company, named D&amp;F Home Builders, and built many houses in the Ogallala and Brule area.&nbsp; Del was a hard worker and enjoyed helping everyone when asked.&nbsp; His hobbies included woodworking and making household items, such as “Lazy Susan’s”.&nbsp; He sold some of his designs but especially liked giving them as gifts for graduation, birthdays and weddings.&nbsp; He loved his garden and flowers, sharing the best tomatoes with all the neighbors and friends.&nbsp; One of Del’s favorite pastimes was fishing. He enjoyed spending almost every day in the boat as long as the wind wasn’t bad, taking a friend along to make a day of it. In winter, he would go ice fishing.&nbsp; Del had many loving friends but said his best friend was his dog “Skip”.&nbsp; He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Preceding him in death was his wife Frances, his parents and his children Janice and Duane, two sisters Elda and Louise, and six brothers: Evert, Ervin, Cecil, Archie, Daniel, and Carleton.&nbsp; Delmore’s family includes his daughter-in-law Gail Olson of Syracuse Kansas, Janet and Scott Leadabrand and their families, and Sister-in-law Charlotte Toro of Ogallala, Loretta Armbruster of Grant, “Skip” his dog, and many nieces and nephews,&nbsp; and hosts of friends. He and Francis farmed together south of Brule. They began their construction company, named D&amp;F Home Builders, and built many houses in the Ogallala and Brule area.&nbsp; Del was a hard worker and enjoyed helping everyone when asked.&nbsp; His hobbies included woodworking and making household items, such as “Lazy Susan’s”.&nbsp; He sold some of his designs but especially liked giving them as gifts for graduation, birthdays and weddings.&nbsp; He loved his garden and flowers, sharing the best tomatoes with all the neighbors and friends.&nbsp; One of Del’s favorite pastimes was fishing. He enjoyed spending almost every day in the boat as long as the wind wasn’t bad, taking a friend along to make a day of it. In winter, he would go ice fishing.&nbsp; Del had many loving friends but said his best friend was his dog “Skip”.&nbsp; He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.&nbsp; Preceding him in death was his wife Frances, his parents and his children Janice and Duane, two sisters Elda and Louise, and six brothers: Evert, Ervin, Cecil, Archie, Daniel, and Carleton.&nbsp; Delmore’s family includes his daughter-in-law Gail Olson of Syracuse Kansas, Janet and Scott Leadabrand and their families, and Sister-in-law Charlotte Toro of Ogallala, Loretta Armbruster of Grant, “Skip” his dog, and many nieces and nephews,&nbsp; and hosts of friends. Charles "Chuck" Wesley Jordan, a veteran of the Vietnam War and longtime resident of McCook, passed away on August 25, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte surrounded by his family.&nbsp; He was 73 years of age. He was born in Fort Collins, Colorado on October 10, 1947 to Richard Edward and Irma Jane (Miller) Jordan. He grew up in Fort Collins and graduated from Fort Collins High School in 1965. Chuck proudly served in the United States Army from 1967-1970. He was deployed to Germany and later fought in the Vietnam War as a flamethrower tank driver. During his years of service, he gained the rank of Sergeant and acquired his Combat Infantryman Badge, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 device, Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star and later his Purple Heart Combat Medal. After the war, Chuck returned home and married the love of his life, Betty Ann Robinson on February 18, 1972 in Fort Collins. To this union three children were born. They spent the early years of marriage farming with family in Colorado and later they moved to Imperial, Nebraska and eventually to McCook in 1987. He spent many years in auto and implement sales, where he received many awards. Later he worked for Paulson Inc. and McCook Public Schools. Chuck was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was a talented woodworker and was well known for his deer jerky, smoked turkeys, and homemade wine. He enjoyed collecting guns and knives. Chuck loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Betty of 34 years. Those left to celebrate his life include his children, Charles E. Jordan (Jon Nicholson), Shawna (Kevin) Michaelis, Crystl Chauncy, and his canine companion, "Kay", all of McCook; brothers, Richard (Kathy) Jordan of LaPorte, CO and Stanley Jordan of Fort Collins, CO; sister, Jolene (Jon) Lind of Burlington, CO; six grandchildren: Emmerie, Jordan, Landyn, Jorlynn, Jayla, and Hadley; and countless friends. Shirley Jean Walter was born April 16, 1937, in Wray, Colorado, to Glenn G. and Verna Clara (Hershele) Mason. Shirley grew up in Wray and Windsor, Colorado and attended college in Arvada, Colorado where she received her Bachelor’s degree in education. On May 4, 1957, Shirley married William LeRoy Walter in Raton, New Mexico, and the couple settled in Windsor, Colorado. Shirley and LeRoy later moved to Fort Lupton, Arvada, and Broomfield in Colorado, and then on to Stratton, Nebraska. Shirley's first job was at Woolworths. She also worked at the Woolrich Clothing Company in the quality control department. Shirley was an elementary substitute teacher and she worked at Walmart in the fabric department. Shirley enjoyed reading, crocheting, sewing, puzzles and going to auctions. She would take joy in the simple things in life. Shirley loved Pepsi and popcorn, BLT’s, a good romance novel, flowers blooming in the yard and spending time with her husband, loved ones and friends. She always saw the good in people and was always willing to help those in need. Shirley passed away August 6, 2021, at Gateway Vista in Lincoln, Nebraska. She was 84 years of age. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband LeRoy, daughter JoAnn, sister Bette Jo “Jody” and brother Earl. Clarice L. Barrett (1934-2021)

Mildred (McCarthy) Pinkston, 96, of North Platte, formerly of Arnold, NE., passed away, August 27, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mildred was born February 20, 1925 to Cornelius and Sylvia (Gess) McCarthy at York, NE.&nbsp; She was born at home on the farm 9 miles south of York, assisted by a neighbor lady.&nbsp; She attended the Covent School in York her kindergarten year and the family moved to Eureka Valley (Anselmo, NE.) when she was in the first grade, the teacher advanced her to the second grade because she was ahead of her class.&nbsp; She attended country school in Eureka Valley until the 9th grade and then she attended High School in Arnold, NE., graduating in 1942.&nbsp; While attending school at Eureka Valley her friends nicknamed her “Mick.” While attending high school, she worked at a hair salon, fixed hair in clients' homes, and worked at the telephone company. After graduating she would ride the train from Arnold to Kearney, NE. to work at the telephone office.&nbsp; Then she transferred to the telephone office in Sargent, NE. In 1943, she married Gene Pinkston of Arnold at the Catholic parsonage in Broken Bow, Ne.&nbsp; They lived on a farm in Eureka Valley until moving to a farm on Pleasant Hill in Arnold and lived in a sod house.&nbsp; They later moved to a different home on Pleasant Hill and continued to farm until moving into Arnold.&nbsp; Mildred was a hard worker, raising five children, selling Avon, raising a large garden, along with hundreds of chickens, selling the chickens and eggs to local customers, and worked at Varney Drug store in Broken Bow.&nbsp; Mildred was a beautiful seamstress and made all of her childrens' and husband's clothes for years.&nbsp; She made a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses for her niece’s wedding.&nbsp; Also, she made the bridesmaid dresses for her daughter Carol’s wedding. Mildred was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold and was one of the women of the Altar Society that started and worked diligently at the St. Agnes Thrift Store located in the church basement.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and DCCW.&nbsp; She held an office and worked many years with the Arnold Alumni Association.&nbsp; She was very proud of her Irish heritage and visited Ireland in 2006.&nbsp; Her family and friends were very important to her and she hosted many family and holiday dinners.&nbsp; The Pinkston Farm was always a place to visit and have a great time.&nbsp; She was a devout Catholic and always had a rosary in her hand or nearby.&nbsp; Mildred moved to North Platte in 2017 and joined St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Gene; her parents Cornelius and Sylvia McCarthy; brothers, Dennis, Neil, Henry, Jerry, John, Tom; sisters, Mary, Gertrude, Margaret; sons, Dale, Darrell, Dennis; infant daughter, Catherine; grandchildren, Randy, Lance; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Wyatt, Brayden, Ashton; daughter-in-law, Merri-Kay.  </figure>Mildred (McCarthy) Pinkston, 96, of North Platte, formerly of Arnold, NE., passed away, August 27, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.&nbsp;&nbsp; Mildred was born February 20, 1925 to Cornelius and Sylvia (Gess) McCarthy at York, NE.&nbsp; She was born at home on the farm 9 miles south of York, assisted by a neighbor lady.&nbsp; She attended the Covent School in York her kindergarten year and the family moved to Eureka Valley (Anselmo, NE.) when she was in the first grade, the teacher advanced her to the second grade because she was ahead of her class.&nbsp; She attended country school in Eureka Valley until the 9th grade and then she attended High School in Arnold, NE., graduating in 1942.&nbsp; While attending school at Eureka Valley her friends nicknamed her “Mick.” While attending high school, she worked at a hair salon, fixed hair in clients' homes, and worked at the telephone company. After graduating she would ride the train from Arnold to Kearney, NE. to work at the telephone office.&nbsp; Then she transferred to the telephone office in Sargent, NE. In 1943, she married Gene Pinkston of Arnold at the Catholic parsonage in Broken Bow, Ne.&nbsp; They lived on a farm in Eureka Valley until moving to a farm on Pleasant Hill in Arnold and lived in a sod house.&nbsp; They later moved to a different home on Pleasant Hill and continued to farm until moving into Arnold.&nbsp; Mildred was a hard worker, raising five children, selling Avon, raising a large garden, along with hundreds of chickens, selling the chickens and eggs to local customers, and worked at Varney Drug store in Broken Bow.&nbsp; Mildred was a beautiful seamstress and made all of her childrens' and husband's clothes for years.&nbsp; She made a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses for her niece’s wedding.&nbsp; Also, she made the bridesmaid dresses for her daughter Carol’s wedding. Mildred was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Arnold and was one of the women of the Altar Society that started and worked diligently at the St. Agnes Thrift Store located in the church basement.&nbsp; She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and DCCW.&nbsp; She held an office and worked many years with the Arnold Alumni Association.&nbsp; She was very proud of her Irish heritage and visited Ireland in 2006.&nbsp; Her family and friends were very important to her and she hosted many family and holiday dinners.&nbsp; The Pinkston Farm was always a place to visit and have a great time.&nbsp; She was a devout Catholic and always had a rosary in her hand or nearby.&nbsp; Mildred moved to North Platte in 2017 and joined St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Gene; her parents Cornelius and Sylvia McCarthy; brothers, Dennis, Neil, Henry, Jerry, John, Tom; sisters, Mary, Gertrude, Margaret; sons, Dale, Darrell, Dennis; infant daughter, Catherine; grandchildren, Randy, Lance; great-grandchildren, Jessica, Cody, Wyatt, Brayden, Ashton; daughter-in-law, Merri-Kay. She is survived by her daughter, Carol (Jerry) Wilson, North Platte; son, Don (Delores) Pinkston, Seminole, AL., grandchildren, Michelle (Julian) Whips, Justin Wilson, Marci (Jeff) Heinzen, Darin (Lorainne) Pinkston, Denise (Craig) Rease, Pete, Ron, Jeff Miller, Kimberly, Melissa, Lisa, Lori, Dawn, and Chad; 34 great-grandchildren, 26 great-great-grandchildren.&nbsp; Along with many other family members and friends.&nbsp;&nbsp; Memorials are suggested to St. Agnes Catholic Church, Arnold, NE., or the Arnold Cemetery in memory of Mildred.&nbsp; Online condolences may be shared at www.adamsswanson.com. Rosary will be held 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.&nbsp; Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church with the Reverend Josh Brown as celebrant. Burial will be at 12:30 P.M., at Arnold Cemetery, Arnold, Nebraska.&nbsp; Visitation will be noon – 5 P.M., Tuesday, August 31, at Adams and Swanson Funeral Home.
