Larry Severin Streit, 86 of Overton, Nebraska passed away Friday, September 17, 2021 at the Plum Creek Care Center in Lexington. Larry was born January 22, 1935 in Lexington to Joe and Maggie (Weaver) Streit. He attended school in Overton and graduated with the class of 1953. He then attended Kearney State College. On April 29, 1957 he was united in marriage to Janice Dickson at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Overton. To this union eight children were born. Larry enlisted in the US Army in 1958 and served his country until being honorably discharged in 1964. Larry farmed and also managed Gardner Lumber Company in Elm Creek for thirty-five years. The family was awarded the one hundred year farm award in 2000. Larry S. Streit (1935-2021)

LeRoy Meissner, age 72, of Culbertson, NE passed away on Thursday, September 16,&nbsp;2021&nbsp;at Community Hospital in McCook, NE.&nbsp; LeRoy was born October 31, 1948 in Quick, NE to parents Leo L. and June A. (Carroll) Meissner.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; LeRoy married Dianna (Zwickle) Meissner on June 1, 1968 in McCook.&nbsp; The couple was blessed with two daughters: Sherri and Shauna. LeRoy enjoyed working on anything with a motor.&nbsp; He was always on the go and enjoyed taking a drive around on the backroads. Over the years, LeRoy was employed by Western&nbsp;Tire, McCook Farm Equipment and Stratton Grain Elevator.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; LeRoy served his country in the United States Army from 1969 until his Honorable Discharge in 1971.&nbsp; He was stationed in Bamburg, Germany. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dianna Meissner; two sisters, Thelma (Pinky) Warburton and Cora Dybdahl; two brothers, James and Kenneth Meissner; sister in law, Merri Meissner; father- and mother-in-law, Harry and Golda (Roller)&nbsp;Zwickle; and brother-in-laws, Michael and Gary&nbsp;Zwickle, and granddaughter Allysha Fischer. LeRoy Meissner (1948-2021)

&nbsp;Emma A. Nowak entered into eternal life at Ogallala Hospital on September 18, 2021. She lived her 103 years in the Keith County, Nebraska area. In her 103 years, Emma lived an iconic life. Emma was born to Emery and Sadie (Schuler) Lee on June 25, 1918, on their farm west of Ogallala. She was one of 5 children, including sisters Nellie (Henery "Hank") Mayden, and Maxcine (Virgil "Butch") Madison; and her brothers, George (Maysel) Lee, and Charles "Bud" Lee. Emma attended school in Ogallala and graduated with the class of 1936 from Ogallala schools. She met Larry T. Nowak at school, and they were united in marriage on November 23, 1936, in Ogallala at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Emma and Larry were blessed with two children, Larry Gene and Gary Lee. Emma and Larry farmed south of Brule, NE for close to 50 years. She worked out of the home and enjoyed many friends that she worked with over the years at TRW. Emma talked often and fondly of her coworkers. They bought their home in Ogallala in 1968, where she raised their grandchildren, Patrick, Diana, Teresa, and Tim. Emma joined St. Luke's Catholic Church when she married and has been a member ever since. Blessed with true beauty inside and out, Emma was the life of every social occasion. She loved fresh garden produce and raised a large garden for most of her life. She enjoyed flowers and the outdoor space around her home, and the wildlife around it. Emma loved good food and serving people around her table; she prided herself on hospitality. Emma loved to bake and especially loved desserts. She regularly made cookies and cakes for visitors and family. Emma enjoyed visitors and telling stories from her childhood, her early married life, and her children's, grandchildren's, and great-grandchildren's lives. With her incredible memory, there wasn't a story she couldn't recall and share. She loved to travel and kept many photo albums of her life and travels to share with her family and friends. She especially loved traveling with her son, Gary, and staying in California over winters with him. She loved to dress up and go to events and share what and who she saw. Emma had a talent for weaving stories that would leave the room in stitches, and they all will live on for many years to come. Emma was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Theodore; son, Larry Gene Nowak; sons-in-law, William Trulock Jr, and Steven Armstrong. Gary Dean Yeutter, 65, of Cozad, passed away September 17, 2021 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born on February 28, 1956 to Wayne and Arlene (Fisher) Yeutter in Cozad. Gary graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1974.&nbsp; After graduation he went to work for Monroe.&nbsp; He moved to Newman Grove and went to work for the Co-Op.&nbsp; Gary married Norma Adams on September 4, 1981 in Johnson Lake.&nbsp; The couple lived in Cozad, while he worked at the elevator in Lexington.&nbsp; He went back to work for Monroe and worked for them until they closed.&nbsp; Gary went to work for John Deere as a mechanic and then a route driver at Dawson Tire. Gary loved spending time tinkering in the shop, shooting his guns, and teaching his grandkids his bad habits and everything else along the way.&nbsp; He loved people and never knew a stranger.&nbsp; Gary was an amazing husband to Norma for 40 years, an amazing father to Randi and Myriah, an amazing grandfather to Dakota, Montana, C.J., Monte, Logan, and Milee and an amazing papa to many children from Norma’s daycare. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Arlene; two infant sisters; sister Nancy (Bob) Callahan. Gary D. Yeutter (1956-2021)

Cynthia Marie Kelly, 70, of North Platte, NE passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Linden Court, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 28, 1951 in Sutherland, she was the daughter of Robert L. Goedert and Eleanor J. (Coates) Goedert.&nbsp; Following the early death of Robert, Eleanor remarried Lyle B. Prell, who lovingly helped raise their family.&nbsp;&nbsp; Cynthia graduated from North Platte High School in 1969, and graduated from Mid-Plains Community College, where she later taught dental assistant classes.&nbsp; She was married to Michael Kelly on August 14, 1971 in Sutherland, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.&nbsp; Cynthia would go on to raise her 3 children and be an integral part of the family ranch. Cynthia had a kind heart, showed amazing grace, and had a fierce love for her family. She was generous and kind – a true genuine soul that warmed all those around her. She was a real lady, a tireless warrior, a complete class act.&nbsp; Cynthia enjoyed summers in Montana with family and on the river at the ranch, as well as Lake Maloney with friends and family. Cynthia loved to travel - especially to Estes Park, Arizona and Ireland. In 2010, Mike and Cynthia moved from the ranch to Lake Maloney and grew to love their time there together. Cynthia always had a smile to share with those around her and continued to keep that smile and sense of humor through it all. She never stopped being a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, or friend. Cynthia was a member of the Nebraska Cattlewomen’s Association and served on the Grape and Sizzle Committee for many years. Cynthia also dedicated many hours to the Alter Society at the Sacred Heart Church in Sutherland.&nbsp; In 2010, Cynthia was elected to the Board of Directors at Western Nebraska Bank.&nbsp; Surviving her, in addition to her husband, Mike, are children, Daniel J.  </figure>Cynthia Marie Kelly, 70, of North Platte, NE passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at Linden Court, surrounded by her loving family. Born on April 28, 1951 in Sutherland, she was the daughter of Robert L. Goedert and Eleanor J. (Coates) Goedert.&nbsp; Following the early death of Robert, Eleanor remarried Lyle B. Prell, who lovingly helped raise their family.&nbsp;&nbsp; Cynthia graduated from North Platte High School in 1969, and graduated from Mid-Plains Community College, where she later taught dental assistant classes.&nbsp; She was married to Michael Kelly on August 14, 1971 in Sutherland, and they celebrated 50 years of marriage this year.&nbsp; Cynthia would go on to raise her 3 children and be an integral part of the family ranch. Cynthia had a kind heart, showed amazing grace, and had a fierce love for her family. She was generous and kind – a true genuine soul that warmed all those around her. She was a real lady, a tireless warrior, a complete class act.&nbsp; Cynthia enjoyed summers in Montana with family and on the river at the ranch, as well as Lake Maloney with friends and family. Cynthia loved to travel - especially to Estes Park, Arizona and Ireland. In 2010, Mike and Cynthia moved from the ranch to Lake Maloney and grew to love their time there together. Cynthia always had a smile to share with those around her and continued to keep that smile and sense of humor through it all. She never stopped being a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, or friend. Cynthia was a member of the Nebraska Cattlewomen’s Association and served on the Grape and Sizzle Committee for many years. Cynthia also dedicated many hours to the Alter Society at the Sacred Heart Church in Sutherland.&nbsp; In 2010, Cynthia was elected to the Board of Directors at Western Nebraska Bank.&nbsp; Surviving her, in addition to her husband, Mike, are children, Daniel J. Russell Dean Carr was born in Sacramento, California on October 8, 1959, to James Dean and Hazel Hahn Carr.&nbsp; Russ’ dad was a member of the Air Force; he was an air traffic controller.&nbsp; The family was stationed in several places throughout the years.&nbsp; Russ lived in South Carolina, in Germany 2 years; first in a small town called Freising outside of Munich, and then in Berlin. &nbsp;The Carr family also lived in New Jersey where he and Mike caught snapping turtles at a pond (and got in trouble for that).&nbsp; Russ lived in Hemet, California when his dad was based in Iceland.&nbsp; He then lived at Luke Airforce Base in Phoenix, AZ and then moved back to Hemet, CA where Russ graduated from high school.&nbsp; Russ loved boxing when he was young. Russ married his high school sweetheart Rheo Fett, in 1979.&nbsp; They were married for 8 years and lived in Hemet, Phoenix, Hemet again and Moreno, CA, divorcing in 1987. &nbsp;&nbsp;He worked as a cement finisher in the 70’s and 80’s.&nbsp; Russ lived with his girlfriend Lucy in Manderson, WY until 1994 when she died of lupus and kidney failure. &nbsp; &nbsp; Russ and Kathy Jo Peterson Murray Hale were married on April 25, 2004, at Pactola Lake, South Dakota.&nbsp;Russ and Kathy became best friends in the late 90s when they both worked for a treatment center.&nbsp; Kathy was raising her 4-year-old grandson, Christopher, and presented Russ with a package deal of an instant family which he told her he always wanted.&nbsp; Russ didn’t have any biological children.&nbsp; On the day of the outdoor wedding the weather was ever-changing throughout the wedding day, tampering with pre-planned events.&nbsp;&nbsp; It rained, it hailed, it snowed and then the sun shined; similar to the 17-year marriage of Russ and Kathy! Russ, Kathy, and Chris lived in Hay Springs, NE, Rapid City, SD, Pine Bluffs, WY, Cheyenne, WY, Crookston, NE, and Valentine, NE.&nbsp; Russ worked in the retail business in the later years of his life; he was a people person.&nbsp; He enjoyed helping others and making people happy.&nbsp; Russ enjoyed working with his Bomgaars family in Valentine these past years where he called his co-workers his friends. Russ and Kathy took turns working throughout the years so that one of them was available for Chris while he was growing up.&nbsp; Chris required a little extra parental support in going to school.&nbsp; When Chris graduated from the 8th&nbsp;grade, Russ received an award of “Perfect Attendance”!&nbsp; Russ was a wonderful dad to Chris, and he couldn’t have been more loving and devoted to raising him as his own. Russ was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. &nbsp;He has many friends across the country, and he loved the fellowship.&nbsp; He celebrated 7 years of sobriety on July 23, 2021.&nbsp; He was an excellent role model of the willingness to change that it takes to live a life of sobriety one day at a time.&nbsp; Russ supported many people on their paths to sobriety. Russ loved fishing; he especially liked to go fishing alone.&nbsp; He found peace and serenity in being in nature. &nbsp;&nbsp;Russ loved to be on a boat in the water and he spent much of his childhood on a boat fishing in the Colorado River with his Grandpa Carr and family. &nbsp;Russ used to go with his dad, Uncle Braswell, and Aunt Leenie “Jeeping” in the “dunes” of California and fishing at the Salton Sea.&nbsp; Russ also liked to go camping and kayaking.&nbsp; When Russ found the old motorhome to fix up, he really scored!&nbsp; He paid $300 for that motorhome, and he had years of camping with it; on its last trip it had to be pulled back to the house. Russ had a love for CB radios and Ham radio.&nbsp; He spent hours dialing in and talking on the radio to people in Australia and other places.&nbsp; He had a whip antenna on top of his house and had a license to communicate with others via the radio when he lived in Wyoming.&nbsp; His CB handle was “Mavrik”. Russ loved motorcycles.&nbsp; He loved to ride both alone and with others.&nbsp; He began going to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in 2010.&nbsp; He only missed one Rally afterwards and that was due to Covid-19 and a shoulder surgery.&nbsp; Russ and Kathy had many rides on their bikes with friends from WY and NE.&nbsp; Russ loved humor. &nbsp;He had a quick wit and he loved practical jokes and making people laugh.&nbsp; He had nicknames for many of his friends (some knew their nickname, and some didn’t!)&nbsp; The more he could keep you guessing the better.&nbsp; He had a unique ability to talk with a sober face and convince you of whatever he wanted.&nbsp; It was always hard to determine whether his story was true or not because of his “poker face.” Russ liked to tell the story of how he put a katydid on Grandpa Leonard Carr’s boot and the katydid climbed up his pants. &nbsp;He had to drop his pants and shake them out to rid the bug.&nbsp; Russ got up and started running and grandpa chased him down the street in his underwear.&nbsp; Russ said he didn’t go home until after dark that night!&nbsp; He had another story about a bobcat that we just can’t share here. Russ would share another story of how “my grandma tried to kill me when I was a kid”.&nbsp; Grandma “Ethel” Hahn had a doorbell at the front door and at the back door.&nbsp; Russ would ring the bell and hide; watching his grandma become frustrated at no one being at the door.&nbsp; She finally caught him and chased him down the street telling him she was going to kill him when she caught him.&nbsp; Sources say he wasn’t the only one she tried to kill! Russ liked Facebook; particularly liking to “stir the pot of drama” when he could.&nbsp; He enjoyed getting reactions to his Facebook posts!&nbsp; Facebook became a great source of entertainment for him, especially the last couple years.&nbsp; He watched boxing, comedy, and YouTube on TV often.&nbsp; He also had a great love of music from many genres. Russell Carr (1959-2021)

Dick Lee Holeman age 73 of Arcadia, NE passed away at home September 16, 2021. Funeral services will be Monday, September 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Church of God in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Gary Alloway officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Lee Park Cemetery west of Arcadia. A visitation will take place on Sunday, September 19th from 3:00 to 7:00 pm with family greeting 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow, NE. Dick Lee Holeman was born at 6 am in Loup City, NE on October 14, 1947, to Donnell I. and Gertrude I. Holeman. He was the youngest of six with four brothers and one sister. Dick went to country schools, Westside and Deem, until 8th grade graduation. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1966. After one year at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Dick volunteered for the draft and entered the army on January 10, 1968. He had basic training in Ft. Lewis, WA, and AIT (advanced infantry training) in Ft. Ord, CA. He then spent 17 months in Germany driving for high-ranking officers. During that time, Dick was awarded the National Defense Service Medal Expert M-14 and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged as an E-5 Sergeant on Dec. 30, 1969. After returning to the United States, Dick married Peggy Lou Woodward on April 12, 1970, in Callaway, NE. Together they had four children. Dick worked for the Lazy S L Ranch southwest of Callaway, NE with Grayston and Margorie Cool for four years and with Leroy and Loretta Kuck in Bertrand, NE for three years. In January of 1977, Dick and his family moved to their current ranch. He was a Myrtle Township board member a total of 20 years off and on. And he worked at the Custer County Highway Dept. as a mechanic for 22 years and retired in December of 2019. On September 16, 2021, he died peacefully at home with his family close by. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, June Holeman. He is survived by his brothers and sister—Eugene and Louise Holeman, Harold and Lois Holeman, Reuben Holeman, Donnell Holeman, and Sharon and Robert John—his wife, Peggy, and their children—Shelley R. and Todd Boldt - Riverdale, NE; Devon L. and Heidi Holeman - Cody, WY; Sheryl L. and Scott Pfeiler - Glenwood, IA; and Susan A. and Gary Alloway - Bristol, PA—along with 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Dick enjoyed the ranch, cattle, horses, and family, and he was very proud of his children and their families. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed.

Funeral services will be Monday, September 20, 2021, at 10:00 am at the Church of God in Broken Bow, NE with Pastor Gary Alloway officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Lee Park Cemetery west of Arcadia. Dick Lee Holeman was born at 6 am in Loup City, NE on October 14, 1947, to Donnell I. and Gertrude I. Holeman. He was the youngest of six with four brothers and one sister. Dick went to country schools, Westside and Deem, until 8th grade graduation. He graduated from Ansley High School in 1966. After one year at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, Dick volunteered for the draft and entered the army on January 10, 1968. He had basic training in Ft. Lewis, WA, and AIT (advanced infantry training) in Ft. Ord, CA. He then spent 17 months in Germany driving for high-ranking officers. During that time, Dick was awarded the National Defense Service Medal Expert M-14 and the Army Commendation Medal. He was honorably discharged as an E-5 Sergeant on Dec. 30, 1969. After returning to the United States, Dick married Peggy Lou Woodward on April 12, 1970, in Callaway, NE. Together they had four children. Dick worked for the Lazy S L Ranch southwest of Callaway, NE with Grayston and Margorie Cool for four years and with Leroy and Loretta Kuck in Bertrand, NE for three years. In January of 1977, Dick and his family moved to their current ranch. He was a Myrtle Township board member a total of 20 years off and on. And he worked at the Custer County Highway Dept. as a mechanic for 22 years and retired in December of 2019. On September 16, 2021, he died peacefully at home with his family close by. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and one sister-in-law, June Holeman. (Hartford) Carter. He was one of eleven siblings who attended elementary school in and around McClave.&nbsp; He later graduated from Colome High School in Colome, South Dakota in 1946.&nbsp; Following high school, Oren enlisted in the United States Army, proudly serving his country from 1946-1947 and then again from 1950-1952 at which time he was Honorably Discharged.&nbsp; Oren worked at many jobs over the years including the local elevator, on the railroad, in construction and at Dayco Rubber Products.&nbsp; He was a 50+ year member of Memorial United Methodist Church in McCook where he served on various committees and sang in the choir.&nbsp; Oren married Eleanor Ruth (Nelms) Carter on September 5, 1970 at Memorial United Methodist Church. &nbsp;&nbsp; Oren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Eleanor Carter; eight brothers, Warren, Bryan, Ernest, Harvey, Marion, Calvin, Wayne and Forrest Carter; and two sisters, Velma Shade and Norma Dawson. Those left to celebrate his life include brother-in-law, Roger Nelms of McCook, NE; sisters-in-law, Dona Nelms of Cambridge, NE and Shirley Nelms of McCook, NE; his many nieces, nephews and lifelong friends.

Gladys Irene Tharp was called to the Lord on September 15, 2021, at the Golden Hours Convalescent Home. Gladys was born on April 13, 1920, to Elmer and Hazel Kent in Imperial, NE. She was married to Charles Tharp on October 9, 1938. During their 66 years of marriage, they went to dances, played cards, went golfing, traveled, and went to Arizona in the winters. Gladys worked alongside Charles during his many years as an auctioneer. Especially during the annual Tharp's machinery auction. Gladys started every day reading the Bible, praying, and saying, " This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it." She spent her life loving the Lord and His people. Gladys spent many hours volunteering for her church, and her joyful personality touched many lives of all ages. She loved singing in the choir. She painted nails for the ladies in the nursing home until late in her 80s. She helped start the Cub Scouts in Grant. She cherished her Eastern Star years. She willingly helped out whenever called by anyone. Gladys will be remembered for her years running the Tharp's Drive Inn, where many students were given a chance for a job. Later in life, she enjoyed playing cards with fellow residents at Westview, watching the Rockies games, and reading. She loved making and giving away her peanut butter balls. People could feel her Faith in whatever she did. Gladys treasured family the most, all of them, anytime, anywhere, doing whatever they wanted. She traveled with them, went to ballgames, played cards, laughed, and enjoyed them all. She particularly loved the family reunions in various places where they all gathered. Exceptional support was given by her nephew and wife, Mike and Sandy Leahy. Survivors include three daughters and one son: Dee Ann Dubbert (Riley) of Holyoke, CO; Dee Etta Long of Ft. Collins, CO; Kenton Tharp (Bonnie) of Amherst, MA; Charlene Cromwell (John) of Yankton, SD; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Helen; wife, Betty; son, Thomas Jensen Jr; stepsons, Richard, Galen, and James Fisher; brothers, Robert, Albert, Everett, and George; and sister, Shirley. Kate graduated from St. Edward High School with the class of 1966.&nbsp; She married James Schumacher in 1966 and to this union two children were born, Barbara Lynn and Benjamin James.&nbsp; Kate moved to North Platte in 1979 and attended North Platte Beauty Academy.&nbsp; She worked at Regis for several years.&nbsp; After retirement, she kept herself busy with many little jobs.&nbsp; Kate was very much a spitfire that always spoke her mind, yet she had a very tender heart. Michael&nbsp;Carreras, age 59, of North Platte, died unexpectedly in North Platte on September 12, 2021. Michael was born at Pine Ridge, SD, on January 4, 1962, then was adopted by Carl and Margaret Carreras and grew up in Hershey and North Platte. While in high school, Michael wrestled and medaled at State. He graduated from NPHS in 1981. Michael worked various jobs over the years including on Richardson's Ranch then for the meat packing industry in Kansas and for American Door Company in North Platte. He was married to Julie Olson for a while and they had a son, Carlos. Michael was an avid Husker fan and Raiders fan and enjoyed playing pool. He was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his mother, Mary Carreras, son, Carlos Carreras, and sister, Carol Carreras, all of North Platte; brother, John (Sharon) Carreras, of Sioux City, IA; two granddaughters; and other family.

Lanay Strever, 63, of Lexington, Nebraska passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at the Lexington Regional Health Center. She was born September 25, 1957 in Lexington, Nebraska, to Clifford W. and Mary L. (Osborn) Strever.&nbsp; Her childhood was spent first on the family farm north of Lexington, then in Beatrice for a couple of years and the remainder in Lexington. Lanay loved to travel and lived her adult life in Colorado, Texas, North Carolina, Germany and Lexington. Always a dreamer with a huge heart, she loved helping others. Be it family or friends, she was always there with a listening ear and encouragement to never give up. She found the good in everyone. If you knew her well, you know her love of roses was endless. She loved to grow them and collect anything and everything with a rose on it.&nbsp;&nbsp; If it had a rose, it had her name all over it. Lanay’s greatest love and her timeless legacy was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She absolutely loved each one in their own way, praising and supporting them in whatever they chose in life. They were truly her pride and joy. Wayne L. Canning 86, of Ogallala, passed away Tuesday September 14, 2021 in his home.&nbsp; Wayne&nbsp;was born June 28, 1935, at Grand Island, NE, the adopted son of John and Elsie (Barnes) Canning.&nbsp; He received his early education in Grand Island and Spalding School District #10, a country school, and received his middle&nbsp; and high school education at Spalding Academy, graduating in 1953. &nbsp;Mr. Canning entered the armed services on March 25, 1954. He received his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX. He then went to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS for electronics and radar school. Wayne then went to the N.E. Air Command in Newfoundland where he remained for over two years. Wayne then returned to the United States and was stationed at the Empire, MI radar site. Wayne was discharged November 18, 1957, at Selfridge, MI. &nbsp;Wayne was united in marriage to Patricia A. Zwiener, August 9, 1958, at Camden, NJ. The couple resided in Germany and France for several years. &nbsp;Wayne spent several years in Germany and France employed by RCA Service Company as a technical representative working&nbsp; with US and NATO forces in Europe. In 1960, he entered college and graduated in 1963 from Tri-State University in Angola, IN&nbsp; with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. After receiving his engineering education, he was employed by Honeywell in Minnesota and Illinois.&nbsp; In 1969, he returned to Nebraska and was employed by GRI in Kimball as chief engineer for the division. In 1972, Mr. Canning came to Ogallala,&nbsp; where he was employed by TRW and ASC as an electrical engineer for sixteen years. In late 1988, he was employed by General Dynamics in&nbsp; Fort Worth, TX and in 1994 he was employed by Industrial Midwec in Scottsbluff, NE. He retired in 2000. &nbsp;Wayne was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Ogallala. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and music. Wayne played in numerous country bands over the years as a guitar, steel guitar, and harmonica player, as well as recording a record in his early music career. He was involved in local youth activities for several years as a VFW/NRA/4H Rifle Club Instructor, High School and Jr. High Trap Team Coach as well as being a Nebraska Hunter Safety Instructor. &nbsp;Survivors include: wife Patricia of Ogallala, five sons, and ten grandchildren: &nbsp;Douglas and wife Sheila of Ogallala and their children, Mark of Elm Creek, Jeremy and wife Sabrina of Ogallala, Alex and wife Joni of Arthur,&nbsp; Kayla Scott and husband Brandon of Ogallala. &nbsp;Bruce of Brule, NE, and son Brian and wife Tara of Ogallala. &nbsp;Chris of San Diego, CA. &nbsp;Craig and wife Amanda of Ogallala and their daughter Alexis of Lincoln. &nbsp;Justin and wife Chelsey of Grand Island and their sons, Jayden, Kylar, Ethyn, and Keygen of Grand Island. &nbsp;As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren. &nbsp; Mr. Canning was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie Canning, stepmother Fern Hatcher, and a half-brother Gale Graff as&nbsp; well as sister Patricia and husband Byron Tullis of Lincoln and great granddaughter Hadley Hegberg of Lincoln. Maxine&nbsp;Pace, age 93, of North Platte, passed way at Great Plains Health on September 15, 2021. Maxine was born to Earl and Edna Grover in Filmore County, NE, on August 7, 1928. She grew up in North Platte where she graduated from high school in 1946. On November 10, 1946, Maxine married Walter Pace in North Platte. They lived in Wellfleet on a farm for a couple years, then moved to North Platte. Maxine went to work for the Lincoln County Welfare Office in 1952 and retired from the State of Nebraska Department of Social Services in 1988. After retiring, Maxine and Walter spent 15 years in Prescott, AZ, then returned to North Platte. She had been a member of the First Baptist Church where she was active in the women's church circle and Judson Club. She was a member of the Cody Square Dancers and an auxiliary member of the American Legion, V.F.W. and D.A.V. Maxine loved square dancing and attended four National Square Dance Competitions just for fun. She also enjoyed collecting antiques and sewing. Maxine will always be remembered for the love she had for her family and baking the most amazing apple pies. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; her parents, Earl and Edna Grover; brother, Glen; and infant sister, Irma; Survivors include her daughters, Eileen Meyer, of Omaha and Theresa (Tom) Deckert, of North Platte; grandchildren, Jason Meyer, Kevin (Amy) Meyer, Shannon (Wes) Altstadt, Greg Hill and Scott (Kenna) Hill; six great-grandchildren, two step great-grandchildren and a step great great-granddaughter; and many other family members. &nbsp; Funeral Service will be 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Odean Colonial Chapel with Brett Hathaway officiating. Fay 'J.R.' Thompson, III, of North Platte, passed away at home with his wife by his side on September 13, 2021. Fay was born at Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Alice and Fay Thompson, Jr. on January 17, 1959. He grew up and attended school in Davenport, Iowa, then the family moved to Bell Gardens, California. It was there he met the love of his life, Lynne Hamil. They lived together in Orting, Washington, and later married on May 6, 2002. Since Fay was a truck driver they eventually made his truck their home until moving to North Platte in 2007. He drove for Justa Trucking until 2014 when he retired due to his health. Fay enjoyed his work and could fix anything on a truck. He liked to read and watch NASCAR racing and drag racing. Fay will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Musgrove; and grandson, Thomas Findling. Fay leaves behind his wife, Lynne, of North Platte; their children, Jennifer Hamil, of Dallas, Oregon, and David Thompson, of Puyallup, Washington; grandchildren, Riley, Skylar and Emily Thompson and Heather Householder; great-grandson, Kaleb Householder; and other family. 2021, at his home in Scott City, Kansas. He was born on July 15, 1960,

 O’Dea.&nbsp; Bob worked for Ecolab for 25 years and is currently for KDOT.

He was a member of the Community Christian Church in Scott City, Kansas.

On November 26, 1983, he married Brenda Kay Greenlee in McCook, Nebraska.&nbsp; She survives.

Paul A. “Punky” Norden, Jr., 65, of Oxford, Nebraska, formerly of Lexington passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege. Punky was born November 24, 1955 at the Lexington Community Hospital to Paul E. and Toni (Ramirez) Norden. The family lived in Eustis for ten years and then moved back to Lexington. He was born “handicapable” and spent his years riding with his Dad trucking and later helping him with his construction business. Punky never knew a stranger and enjoyed talking to everyone that he had seen. His contagious laugh and smile would light up a room. Punky moved to Oxford in 1999 and worked at a recycling center while living at Mid Nebraska Services. Several of the Mid Nebraska Service employees would come on their days off and pick him up and spend the day with him. Punky enjoyed John Wayne, Elvis, watching old westerns and the Texas Ranger. He often spent weekends in Lexington and loved attending church with his Mom. He is survived by his mother, Toni of Lexington; three sisters, Gladys Thomas of Kingsland, Georgia, Twyla Browning of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Vicky and husband Lewis Spuhler of Brady; nephew, Chad Spuhler of Kearney; niece, Brooke and husband Josh Dorn of Kearney; as well as other nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Paul Sr., sister; Paulette, brother; Gerry as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Several of the Mid Nebraska Service employees would come on their days off and pick him up and spend the day with him. Punky enjoyed John Wayne, Elvis, watching old westerns and the Texas Ranger. He often spent weekends in Lexington and loved attending church with his Mom. He is survived by his mother, Toni of Lexington; three sisters, Gladys Thomas of Kingsland, Georgia, Twyla Browning of Collinsville, Oklahoma and Vicky and husband Lewis Spuhler of Brady; nephew, Chad Spuhler of Kearney; niece, Brooke and husband Josh Dorn of Kearney; as well as other nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father; Paul Sr., sister; Paulette, brother; Gerry as well as numerous aunts and uncles. Funeral Services will be on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God Church in Lexington with Pastor Rex Adams, officiating. Paul A. "Punky" Norden, Jr. (1955-2021)

Edward Anderson Wearin, Jr. (Andy) passed away Aug. 5, 2021, in Cheyenne, Wyo. Andy was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Council Bluffs, to Edward and Helen Wearin. He enjoyed growing up on the family farm in Red Oak and working on the family ranch in Hyannis, Neb., in the summer, where his love for horses, cattle, and roping blossomed. He attended prep school at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., and graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in agricultural business. Andy managed the Prairie States Feedlot in Alliance, Neb., for 13 years before managing the Wearin Brothers Cattle Company in Hyannis, Neb. He married Georgeann (Darden) Sheets in 2000. The couple enjoyed working on the ranch and raising her three sons, Tucker, Coy and Trey. After selling the ranch in 2012, Andy and Georgeann moved to Cheyenne, Wyo., where they owned and operated the Riata Ranch Event Center. The couple relocated to Crowley, Texas, in 2019 to enjoy retirement. Andy enjoyed steer roping, reading, travel, and following his kids and grandkids in all of their activities. Andy was a kind man who loved to help others and was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Georgeann; three step-sons, Tucker (Melissa) Sheets and children, David and Lydia of Hyannis, Neb.; Coy (Mikaela) Sheets and children, Avery, Elsie and Lyle of Miles City, Mont.; Trey (LaTasha Wieferich) Sheets of Hyannis, Neb.; sisters, Elizabeth Wearin and Sarah Wearin Smith of Red Oak; and Catherine Wearin of Cheyenne, Wyo.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends. Ariella Delilah Marie Delso (2021-2021)

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Inez A. Cohen, age 102, of HIllsboro, Oregon, passed away on Friday, November 13, 2020 at Rosewood Park in Hillsboro.&nbsp; Inez was born on September 24, 1918 at Big Springs, Nebraska to Niels 'Mike' and Glyde 'Polley' Nielson. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;As a teenager, Inez moved to Oregon where she began a long and successful career in the restaurant business as a waitress and quickly worked up to management.&nbsp; During World War II, Inez took a short break to pursue waitress work in San Francisco. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In the 1960's Inez changed careers, entering the real estate field, where again she was very successful in both selling and knowing the right purchases for her own portfolio.&nbsp; Inez was most proud of successfully assisting numerous women in their first home purchase.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Her dedication to family was as strong as to her professional career.&nbsp; Her Oregon family included her brother, Arley, sister, Iona, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;In addition to career and family over the years, Inez became a world traveler, with Russia, Hong Kong, Alaska, and Hawaii being her favorites and most often visited.&nbsp; Her home decor was a display of her world travels.&nbsp; She loved music and dancing, a favorite dance tune being "Tiny Bubbles." &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;The younger generation of the family was inspired with the Nielson work ethic and the zest for life exhibited by Inez.&nbsp; Family always looked forward to the elegant dinners she hosted and trips to the Oregon coast she coordinated.&nbsp; Inez will always be remembered for her red hair and her beloved red sports car, "Awesome." &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Inez was preceded in death by her parents, Mike &amp; Glyde Nielson; three brothers, Arley, Glenn and an infant brother; five sisters, Iona Schaffer, Ilene Wolford, Rosetta Zorn, Esther Norwood, and Irene Harmonson. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include her sister, Gladys (Larry) Benzing of Longview, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in her name. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Holecheck-Bondegard Funeral Home &amp; Cremations in Oshkosh, Nebraska is assisting with local arrangements.
