Myrna Twombly, 80, of Holdrege, died at Kearney Regional Hospital on Tuesday, March 31, 2020.

Myrna was born to Robert and Arlis Roberts in Norton County, Kansas, on August 24, 1939. Myrna grew up in Norton County and Alma, NE, then got married after she was done with school. She later became a certified nurse’s aid and worked for Christian Homes and Memorial Homes, both in Holdrege. Myrna enjoyed spending her free time doing embroidery and solving crossword puzzles.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Twombly; father, Robert Roberts, Sr.; mother and stepfather, Arlis and Glenard Conant; and brother, Loren Roberts.

Myrna is survived by her daughter, Sherry, and three stepsons; sister, Joyce (Marion) Walkington, of Holdrege; brother, Robert, Jr. (Diane) Roberts, of Oregon; sister-in-law, Jan Roberts, of North Platte; three grandchildren; and other family.

Myrtle Helen Dent age 90 of Mullen, NE passed away Sunday, March 29, 2020 in Mullen, NE at the Pioneer Memorial Rest Home.

Helen (Pearson) Dent was born May 9, 1929 to Fritz and Myrtle Pearson in Mullen, NE.&nbsp;&nbsp;She passed away on March 29, 2020.

Helen lived her life in the Mullen area.&nbsp;&nbsp;She liked being part of a big family and had a lot of stories about growing up in their small house with only 3 bedrooms and 6 kids.&nbsp;&nbsp;She once said that you could be in a big fight with one of your sisters, but you had to get over it by bedtime!&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;As they all grew older and had families of their own, they still loved to get together for family events and holidays.&nbsp;&nbsp;There would be cooking, card playing and lots of visiting and laughter.

Helen enjoyed sports.&nbsp;&nbsp;In High School she played basketball, softball and loved to roller skate.&nbsp;&nbsp;She continued to play softball for many years on the North Country team that Vern coached.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

On Sept 23, 1948 she and Vern were married.&nbsp;&nbsp;They began their lives together living and working on Slim Marshall’s ranch north of Whitman.&nbsp;&nbsp;They worked on various ranches over the years before starting their own place.&nbsp;&nbsp;On several of the ranches she was the “cook” for the hired hands.&nbsp;&nbsp;Luckily for them, she was very good at it!

Ranch life was a perfect fit for Helen.&nbsp;&nbsp;She worked side by side with Vern milking cows, doing cattle work and checking wells.&nbsp;&nbsp;They had 3 kids within 4 years, so she was a very busy woman.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helen loved her family and some of her favorite times were when they would all get together.&nbsp;She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Helen is survived by 3 children:&nbsp;&nbsp;Mike (Rachel) Dent, Jane (Mike) Edelman and Steve (Erin) Dent&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Grandkids:&nbsp;&nbsp;Dan (Molly) Dent, Dana (Scott) Freiberg, Leslie (Mathew) Lee, Brent (Jenner) Edelman, Stacey (Jeff) Stanbury, Steven (Tina) Edelman, Shawn (Tara) Minor, Katie (Joe) Mundorf, Steven (Kay) Dent and 20 Great Grandkids.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Also, 3 in-laws: John Worrall, Dean Marshall and Marjorie Pearson.&nbsp;

Helen was proceeded in death by&nbsp;her parents Fritz and Myrtle Pearson, husband Vern and siblings, John and Norma Pearson, Mary Worrall, William and Norma Pearson, Marlene Marshall and Donald Pearson.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Arlene Ruth White age 96 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow, NE.

Arlene was born April 8, 1923 to Bert and Adeline (Anderson) Schmidt in Anselmo, NE. Arlene grew up near Anselmo where she attended rural school. Arlene worked for a short time at the Hastings Ordnance plant. On January 30, 1946 she was united in marriage to Vernon White in Anselmo, NE. The couple lived in Brewster for a while on Vernon’s uncle Jimmy White ranch. In the summer of 1947 the coupled moved Oregon, where Vernon worked at lumber mill with his brother Wilmer White. In 1948, they returned to Broken Bow. In later years, Arlene worked at the Arrow Hotel, cleaning rooms and laundry. Arlene never had a driver’s license.

Arlene was active in the First Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, family gatherings, fishing, and camping.

Arlene is survived by daughters Elaine (Larry) Gimpel of Aurora and Delores “Dee” Hanson of Cosmos, NM, seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, daughter-in-law Connie White of Lincoln, sister Ruby Booth of Lincoln.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Vernon, son Dennis, daughter Cindy, her parents, a brother Berten Schmidt, and granddaughter Kristi.

Arlene Ruth White (1923-2020

Opal “Pauline” (Stephens) Haumont age 96 of Broken Bow, NE passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2020 at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow, NE.

Pauline was born June 26, 1923 in Stapleton, NE to Raleigh and Ruth (Ervin) Reynolds. She attended rural country school in Logan County. Then graduated from Baker Rural High School in Stapleton. After graduation she volunteered at the Canteen in North Platte, NE to feed the military passing through on the train. At one stop she got to see the “Love of Her Life” for 5 minutes.

On November 1, 1942 she was united to that “Love” Elmer Stephens. They made their home in California until Elmer was discharged from the Army, then they moved to Litchfield, NE for three years. To this union two children were born Carol Jean in 1947 and along come Kenneth Wayne in 1950, on “Carol’s birthday!”

In 1948 the couple purchased Stapleton Produce &amp; Feed in Stapleton, NE. They operated this business until 1965 when they sold it and moved to Broken Bow. Pauline worked for Custer Public Power District for approximately 20 years before her retirement. Elmer passed in December of 1986.

On April 18, 1992 she married Steven Haumont in Broken Bow, NE. They both enjoyed retirement and golfing until Steve went to live in Heritage Hall and Pauline moved to Liberty Square. She made many trips down the hall to visit Steve and all the nurses. Most of her free time was spent making quilts, crocheting afghans and name plaques for most of the people at Heritage Hall. In 2016, Pauline entered Heritage Hall herself and lived there until they transferred her to Brookestone View until her passing.

Pauline is survived by a daughter Carol (Gerald) Mathis of Elida, NM, son Kenneth (Marilyn) Stephens, of Valentine, eight grandchildren Randi (Gary) Hromas of Lincoln, Rhonda (Joe) Lichtenberg of Omaha, Jason (Candy) Mathis of Atkinson, Stacy (Joe) Derrick of Roswell, NM, Marty (Erin) Mathis of Amistad, NM, Kendra (Jason) Wright of Olathe, KS, Melissa Stephens of Valentine, Kayla Stephens of Valentine, 16 great grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, step-children Kay (Roland) Rossmiller of CA, Darrel Haumont of Broken Bow, brother-in-law Roy Stephens of Vancouver, WA, and many nieces and nephews.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands Elmer Stephens and Steven Haumont, one brother, and four sisters.

Diane Elaine (Burke) Pavel was born on September 15, 1957 in Lynch, Ne. to Dean and Elaine Burke. She passed away on March 24th&nbsp;at Bryan West Medical Center. She lived in Lexington, Ne. for a short period of time, moving to Broken Bow where she attended school, graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1975.&nbsp; Diane worked as a dietary aide at Jennie M Melham Hospital until she entered college in 1980.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her college graduation began her lifelong career in work focused on helping people, which came very naturally to her and was indicative of her compassionate and loving heart.&nbsp; Over the course of the next 35 years Diane worked for several agencies in Lincoln, McCook and Kearney helping children, families and adults. In her career with Health and Human Services she was a Protection and Safety, and Economic Assistance case manager and a Supervisor for a financial assistance unit.&nbsp; Diane finished her career retiring from the Kearney USDA Rural Development Office in October 2019.&nbsp;

Diane met her Michael when they were members of the McCook Jaycees.&nbsp; She did not fall in love until a little later in life, and once told a sister that “Mike was worth the wait!”&nbsp;&nbsp; Diane and Mike shared almost 23 years of marriage, love, early morning coffee, going to the movies and spirited conversation.&nbsp; In earlier years of their marriage, Diane enjoyed fishing and hunting with Mike, and attending auctions during which she was a fierce and frequent bidder! Avid supporters of wildlife conservation she and Mike attended numerous Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever banquets, enjoying the meal, the company and the auctions. &nbsp;Diane enjoyed Junk Jaunting with Mike’s mother Kathy and his aunt, Jacki and traveling to Disney World, California, Washington and Las Vegas, planning trips around visiting family which was important to both of them. &nbsp;Diane greatly enjoyed the Sandhill Cranes, with she and Mike sharing a tradition of getting Kentucky Fried Chicken and finding a spot to have the best view.&nbsp; Michael had hoped to take her to see them this year, but her health did not provide the opportunity to do so.

Diane enjoyed music, playing the guitar in her younger years and acquiring a fairly extensive collection of phonograph records.&nbsp; A creative soul, she liked to paint and encouraged nieces and nephews who expressed artistic ability.&nbsp;&nbsp; A tremendous strength of Diane’s was her ability to connect with family, friends and people she worked with.&nbsp; Diane was a magnet for those in need and felt a calling to help them, in her professional and personal life. Family was very important to her and she was very proud of and dearly loved her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, taking great care to remember them on Christmas and their birthday and offering words of encouragement.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was a fun aunt and was known as “that other grandma” to some of the littlest family members.

Diane was a tremendous baker and inherited her mother’s ability to make homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies and cake. Neighbors, friends, coworkers and Mike’s brother Dan were often the appreciative recipients of these gifts of love. The past several years at Christmas, Diane and Mike invited neighborhood families to come over to bake and decorate cookies, an activity in which she took great delight sharing time with the children in the neighborhood and their parents.&nbsp; &nbsp;Next to Mike, his family, her family and baking, Diane’s great passion was her yellow labs.&nbsp; Star and Bella were her companions, her friends and sometimes her headache.&nbsp; They gave her comfort, laughter and wet kisses.&nbsp;

Diane kept her sense of humor and desire to live life until the very end.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her father-in-law Ron Pavel, her brother-in-law Jeff Kawata and her beloved dogs, Tess and Blue.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband Michael of Kearney, mother-in-law Kathy of Abie, brothers-in-law, Dan of Abie, and Bob (Nancy) of York, sisters Michelle Embree of Gibsonville, N.C., Ann Kawata, Mary (James) Miller, and Jodi (Carey) Mattox all of Broken Bow, brothers Mike Burke, Scottsbluff, Shawn (Becky) Burke, Sutherland, David (Tami) Burke, Aunt Jacki (Adrian) Sima, Staplehurst, Uncle Glen (Gretchen) Burke, Tumwater, WA,&nbsp; 26 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Diane was kind, caring, fun, creative, spirited, a loving wife, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law and tremendous friend.&nbsp; She is loved and she is missed.

A private family Rosary and Funeral will be Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery.  </figure>Diane Elaine (Burke) Pavel was born on September 15, 1957 in Lynch, Ne. to Dean and Elaine Burke. She passed away on March 24th&nbsp;at Bryan West Medical Center. She lived in Lexington, Ne. for a short period of time, moving to Broken Bow where she attended school, graduating from Broken Bow High School in 1975.&nbsp; Diane worked as a dietary aide at Jennie M Melham Hospital until she entered college in 1980.&nbsp;&nbsp; Her college graduation began her lifelong career in work focused on helping people, which came very naturally to her and was indicative of her compassionate and loving heart.&nbsp; Over the course of the next 35 years Diane worked for several agencies in Lincoln, McCook and Kearney helping children, families and adults. In her career with Health and Human Services she was a Protection and Safety, and Economic Assistance case manager and a Supervisor for a financial assistance unit.&nbsp; Diane finished her career retiring from the Kearney USDA Rural Development Office in October 2019.&nbsp;Diane met her Michael when they were members of the McCook Jaycees.&nbsp; She did not fall in love until a little later in life, and once told a sister that “Mike was worth the wait!”&nbsp;&nbsp; Diane and Mike shared almost 23 years of marriage, love, early morning coffee, going to the movies and spirited conversation.&nbsp; In earlier years of their marriage, Diane enjoyed fishing and hunting with Mike, and attending auctions during which she was a fierce and frequent bidder! Avid supporters of wildlife conservation she and Mike attended numerous Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever banquets, enjoying the meal, the company and the auctions. &nbsp;Diane enjoyed Junk Jaunting with Mike’s mother Kathy and his aunt, Jacki and traveling to Disney World, California, Washington and Las Vegas, planning trips around visiting family which was important to both of them. &nbsp;Diane greatly enjoyed the Sandhill Cranes, with she and Mike sharing a tradition of getting Kentucky Fried Chicken and finding a spot to have the best view.&nbsp; Michael had hoped to take her to see them this year, but her health did not provide the opportunity to do so.Diane enjoyed music, playing the guitar in her younger years and acquiring a fairly extensive collection of phonograph records.&nbsp; A creative soul, she liked to paint and encouraged nieces and nephews who expressed artistic ability.&nbsp;&nbsp; A tremendous strength of Diane’s was her ability to connect with family, friends and people she worked with.&nbsp; Diane was a magnet for those in need and felt a calling to help them, in her professional and personal life. Family was very important to her and she was very proud of and dearly loved her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews, taking great care to remember them on Christmas and their birthday and offering words of encouragement.&nbsp; &nbsp;She was a fun aunt and was known as “that other grandma” to some of the littlest family members.Diane was a tremendous baker and inherited her mother’s ability to make homemade cinnamon rolls, cookies and cake. Neighbors, friends, coworkers and Mike’s brother Dan were often the appreciative recipients of these gifts of love. The past several years at Christmas, Diane and Mike invited neighborhood families to come over to bake and decorate cookies, an activity in which she took great delight sharing time with the children in the neighborhood and their parents.&nbsp; &nbsp;Next to Mike, his family, her family and baking, Diane’s great passion was her yellow labs.&nbsp; Star and Bella were her companions, her friends and sometimes her headache.&nbsp; They gave her comfort, laughter and wet kisses.&nbsp;Diane kept her sense of humor and desire to live life until the very end.&nbsp; She was preceded in death by her mother and father, her father-in-law Ron Pavel, her brother-in-law Jeff Kawata and her beloved dogs, Tess and Blue.&nbsp; She is survived by her husband Michael of Kearney, mother-in-law Kathy of Abie, brothers-in-law, Dan of Abie, and Bob (Nancy) of York, sisters Michelle Embree of Gibsonville, N.C., Ann Kawata, Mary (James) Miller, and Jodi (Carey) Mattox all of Broken Bow, brothers Mike Burke, Scottsbluff, Shawn (Becky) Burke, Sutherland, David (Tami) Burke, Aunt Jacki (Adrian) Sima, Staplehurst, Uncle Glen (Gretchen) Burke, Tumwater, WA,&nbsp; 26 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews.&nbsp; Diane was kind, caring, fun, creative, spirited, a loving wife, sister, aunt, daughter-in-law and tremendous friend.&nbsp; She is loved and she is missed.A private family Rosary and Funeral will be Saturday, March 28, 2020 at the St Joseph Catholic Church in Broken Bow, NE with Father Jim Hunt officiating. Diane Elaine (Burke) Pavel (1957-2020

Virgil Leroy Nelson, age 86, of a North Platte, Nebraska passed away on March 30, 2020, at Great Plains Medical Center after complications from pneumonia.

He was born November 5, 1933, near Wausa, Nebraska to Fredolph and Violet Nelson. Virgil fully embraced the life of hard work and adventure where he was raised on the family farm and attended country schools near the small Swedish community. He attended Liberty High School and graduated from Wausa High School in 1951.

After attending Yankton College and Luther College, Virgil was drafted into the US Army and served in Korea from September 1953 to August 1955. Upon return, he completed his college degree, earning a BA in Math and Education from Wayne State College in 1957, and later earned his Masters Degree from Colorado State College (University of Northern Colorado).

On August 17, 1957, he was united in marriage to Carol Lee Moline at the United Methodist Church in Wausa. Virgil and Carol were married for 53 years.&nbsp;

The couple moved to Arcadia, Nebraska in 1958 where Virgil taught math, and served as principal for one year, at Arcadia High School. In 1965 they moved to North Platte when Virgil was hired to teach math as one of the original faculty members of the new North Platte Community College. His teaching career at NPCC/Mid-Plains Community College spanned all levels of math and computer science until his retirement in 1996. Many former students recall Professor Nelson and how much they learned from him.

Virgil’s industrious spirit, natural talents and endless work ethic allowed him many pursuits which included singing in the small country music band, The Mavericks, around central Nebraska (1959-1971, completing numerous construction projects in the summers, and maintaining a mini-farm on his property. He enjoyed playing volleyball with the college faculty team for many years in the city league, as well as bowling and occasional ice skating. His sharp wit, humor and storytelling amused family and friends.&nbsp;

Volunteering throughout the community during retirement, he worked with Habitat for Humanity, served as President of both the North Platte Tree Board and Buffalo Bill Kiwanis Club. He was selfless in his service to neighbors and friends throughout the community. He and wife, Carol, also enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, Scrabble, gardening, camping and traveling to visit family and grandchildren.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Keith; and wife, Carol.

He is survived by his son, Wade Nelson of Overland Park, Kansas and his daughter, Heidi (Steve) Reiser of Aliso Viejo, California; six grandchildren Stephanie (Jeremy) Nelson, Samantha (Jerry) Jacobs, Spencer Nelson, Walker Nelson, Matt Reiser and Anna Reiser; and one great-grandchild, Levi Nelson; as well as many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life service that will be scheduled at a later date.

Arleen Joan (Larson) Petersen, age 80, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on March 28, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.

She was born on July 1, 1939 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to Nina Woodworth.&nbsp; On August 11, 1939, she was baptized as Karrin Jean Woodworth. Arleen was adopted on September 21, 1941 by John L. and Emma C. (Andersen) Larson near Tyler, Minnesota and was named Arleen Joan Larson.&nbsp; She attended country school for four years and graduated from Tyler High School in 1957.&nbsp;

On July 27, 1957, she was united in marriage to 2nd Lt. Robert “Bob” L. Petersen at First English Lutheran Church in Tyler, Minnesota.&nbsp; The couple moved to Waco, Texas while Bob finished training at Connelly AFB to be a Radar Intercept Officer (RIO).&nbsp; In February of 1958, they moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota.&nbsp; Their sons Todd and Jon were born in Sioux Falls.&nbsp; From 1961 to 1963, they lived in Fargo, North Dakota where Bob finished college while flying with the North Dakota National Guard.&nbsp; Son, Marc, was born in Fargo.&nbsp; In June of 1963, the couple moved to North Platte, Nebraska where Arleen worked as a realtor from 1977 until she retired in 2018.

Arleen had a love for Community Theater and singing.&nbsp; In the mid 1960’s she directed 8 shows and acted in 10.&nbsp; She was in the Frontier Revue for 30 years, as both a cast member and director. She sang solos at funerals and church for 30 years, and sang with the Heartland Singers.&nbsp; Arleen was an active member at First Evangelical Lutheran Church for over 50 years, serving a 3 year term on the church counsel, church circle, and gave communion to the home bound. In 1985, Arleen received the Nebraskaland Days “Best in the West” Dale Studley Memorial Award followed by the “Friendship Award” in 1992.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Arlen Larson; son, Jon; and great grandson, Nolan Petersen.

Arleen is survived by her husband, Bob, of North Platte; sons, Marc Petersen of North Platte and Todd (Diana) Petersen of Kansas City; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.

A private family burial will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska. A visitation with book signing will be from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at Carpenter Memorial Chapel.

She was born July 16, 1940 to William and Elise (Shepherd) Meyer at Grand Island, Nebraska. Jo graduated from North Platte High School and the School of Commerce.

She was a House Keeper for many years in North Platte. She was an avid reader, liked to watch television and loved to write.

Jo was a lifelong member of the Episcopal Church of Our Savior in North Platte.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Patricia Ann “Patty” Cheever, age 54, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away March 30, 2020 at Great Plains Health in NorthPlatte.

Patty was born July 12, 1965 in North Platte to Robert Glan and Alice (Borron) Cheever Sr. She grew up in North Platte. Patty worked as a waitress and housekeeper for many years. In 1982 Patty married Ricky James Cheever in North Platte where the two made their home.

Patty like to camp, fish, spend time with her family, float the river, listen to music, and enjoy her adult beverages. She will be remembered as a wonderful person and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her children, Desiree (Allen) Cheever Johnston, and Melissa Cheever all of North Platte; grandchildren, Shala, Ciara, Sophia, Ricky-Allen; father, Robert Glen Cheever Sr. of North Platte; brother, Robert Glen Cheever Jr. of North Platte; sister, Terry Dishman of North Platte; and longtime friend, David Martin of North Platte.

Gloria Jean “Stormy” Read, age 53, of North Platte, Nebraska died March 28, 2020 at Great Plains Health in North Platte.&nbsp; Stormy was born on March 21, 1967 in Greensburg, Pennsylvania to Dominic and Lorraine (Barnhurst) Pandolph.&nbsp;

She grew up in Cedar City, Utah and Hazelton, Idaho.&nbsp; On July 11, 1992, she married Charles “Lucky” Read in Cedar City, Utah. The couple moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1998 when Charles hired on with Union Pacific Railroad.&nbsp; Stormy enjoyed cake decorating, photography, making crafts, woodworking, and costume design for their Renaissance fairs.

Survivors include her husband Charles of North Platte; parents, Dominic Pandolph of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Lorraine Gibson of Hershey, Nebraska; grandmother, Jean Barnhurst of LaVerkin, Utah; 3 children, Eric (Ruth Ann) Mecham of Grant, Nebraska, and John (Holly) Read of North Platte, Nebraska, Savannah White of Kearney, Nebraska; 9 grandchildren, Alexis, Cyler, Trever, Kolton, Blake, Zaylynn, Jayclynn, Connor, and Jason; siblings, Michelle (Jeff) Hatch of North Platte, Lenore Johnson of LaVerkin, Utah, Becky (Ray) Fletcher of Paxton, Nebraska,&nbsp; Cathy Pandolph of Pennsylvania, Cindi Barrett, Denver Colorado, Kate Greene, Florida, Froggy of Utah, best friend and cousin Carol Staff, Elwood, Nebraska, and `best friend Christa King, Geneva, Nebraska; and many other family members and adopted grandchildren.&nbsp;

Lola Bernice Castor, 94, of Alliance, formerly of Maxwell, died at Highland Park Care Center on Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

Lola was born in Aurora, Nebraska, on August 7, 1925, to Alexander and Goldie (Cogil) Brown.&nbsp; She grew up and attended school in Aurora then got married.

On April 28, 1942, Lola married Arthur Levi Castor in Grand Island where they lived.&nbsp; Following Art's discharge from the U.S. Army, they moved to North Platte in 1946 then to Maxwell in '60.&nbsp; After Art died in 1986 Lola eventually moved to Alliance.

Lola spent her years caring for her family and was a member of the Moos, Eagle's and V.F.W. Auxiliaries, and Calvary Assembly of God, all in North Platte.&nbsp; Lola liked too travel, go camping and play shuffle board.&nbsp; She especially enjoyed dancing and collecting angels.

Along with her husband, Art, she was preceded in death by their son, Arthur, Jr., and daughters Esther Castor and Barbara Bates; her parents, Alex and Goldie Brown; brothers, Stanley, Chester and Alex Brown; sisters, Zelda Spears and Lillian Cockran; grandchildren, Michael Reed, Melissa Bates and Angela Zimmerman; and great-granddaughter Charity Castor.

Lola is survived by her children, Roger Castor and Sharon (LeRoy) Perkins, of Maxwell, Linda Houchin and Alice Foster, of North Platte, and Gladys (Bud) Welch, of Alliance; over 90 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; as well as other family.

Georgia Regas, 81, of North Platte, passed away March 25, 2020 at Great Plains Health. She was born September 1, 1938 to Christopher and Nickoletta (Terzakis) Regas in North Platte, NE.

Georgia graduated from North Platte High School in 1956. She worked in North Platte at KODY radio station and Madison Junior High School. Georgia worked for Dr. Daughtery and then worked for the Nebraska State Patrol, in the criminal division, as a secretary for 38 years before retiring. After retiring she volunteered at a local food pantry.

Georgia was known for her strong spirit and was a very giving and generous person. She loved Coca-Cola and was a faithful and avid Husker football fan. She enjoyed crocheting and made afghans for many people. She enjoyed spending time with her family and loved her dog Maxx very much.

Survivors include a son, Troy (Deb) Regas of North Platte; three granddaughters, Maggie, Heather, and Elvira (Greg Weaver) Alvarado ; great-granddaughters, Makaya, Sienna, and Marley Dewolf, Ladaisha Jones and Baby Charlie Rae; siblings Helen (John) Charbonneau of North Platte, James (Candace) Regas of Centennial, CO; niece Rebecca (Jeffrey) Lawrence of Phoenixville, PA; nephew, Christopher Regas of Lakewood, CO; great nieces and nephews, Ryder James Lawrence, Kendall Elizabeth Lawrence, Odin James Regas, Viktor Kristos Regas.

worked at Wal Mart.  In 2005 she was hired by the Union Pacific
Railroad as a switchman/conductor.

Sheila enjoyed horseback riding,
camping, spending time with her children, and collecting John Wayne

She was born November 16, 1934 in Wild Horse Valley north of Brady, NE, daughter of Reuben Andrew Nathanial and Gertrude Fickenscher Bratten.&nbsp; Her family moved to Gothenburg when she was four years old. She attended a one room school, District 91.&nbsp; She graduated from Gothenburg High School.&nbsp; She then attended UNL for a time and then St. Luke's School of Nursing in Denver, CO.&nbsp; She married Dale L. Schmeeckle on January 2, 1955 and the couple had two children Timothy and Susan. Bev dedicated her life to the family farm where she grew up, Her children and her grandchildren were the light of her life and she cherished her little great grandchildren.&nbsp; She has a special place in her heart for the cattle and showing them.&nbsp; Bev and Dale were pioneer breeders of Simmental cattle and took many awards specially the bull Aristocrat.&nbsp; Bev was an active member of the Nebraska Cattlemen and the Cow-Bells.&nbsp; She judged many Cow-Bells recipe contests.&nbsp; She was recognized for her accomplishments as a Cow-Bell by being inducted into the Cattleman Hall of Fame in 2017.&nbsp; &nbsp;In her later years, she accomplished her lifelong dream of owning a restaurant, The Farmer's Wife.&nbsp; She was well know for her pies and cheesecakes.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Survivors include Son, Tim Schmeeckle (Teri) of Gothenburg, NE; Daughter, Susie Schmeeckle of Gothenburg, NE; grandchildren Justina, Robert, Shelby, Shawna, Jason, Shane and Leila; 16 great grandchildren; sister Cheryl (Larry) Wieskamp of Lincoln, NE; along with many extended family and friends.

Joy Marie Conrad was born on October 12, 1927.&nbsp; Three brothers had&nbsp;preceded her into the home of Earl and Georgia Curtis near Huston, Texas&nbsp;County, Missouri; and a brother and two sisters were to follow.

Joy married Edward S Norman on March 25, 1946.&nbsp; Four children joined the&nbsp;home in the next 7 years.&nbsp; The family moved multiple times and lived in&nbsp;much of the western part of the country. Ed died in 1987 and Joy&nbsp; ultimately made her home in North Platte. She married Lowell Conrad on&nbsp;January 1, 1991.

Joy was a member of North Platte Berean Church for many years. She spent&nbsp;the last three years of her life as a resident of Linden Estates and&nbsp;Linden Court in North Platte.&nbsp; She went into the presence of her Savior&nbsp;Jesus on March 22, 2020.

Robert Patrick Bohan Jr., 61, of North Platte, passed away March 20, 2020 at Great Plains Health.&nbsp; He was born September 21, 1958 to Robert and Dorothy (Ryan) Bohan.

Robert grew up in Denver, Colorado and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic High School in Grand Island, Nebraska.&nbsp; He moved to North Platte and was an electrician apprentice during the building of the Gerald Gentleman Power Plant. In August 1987 Robert hired on the Union Pacific Railroad became a Hump yard Maintainer.

He married Valarie K,.&nbsp; &nbsp;Mueller on July 14, 1984.&nbsp; Robert liked to bicycle, go camping and travel.

&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Paula Louise Carman, age 80, of North Platte, Nebraska passed away on March 21, 2020 at Linden Court in North Platte.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;She was born on May 17, 1939 to Ralph and Evelyn (Quick) Zlomke in St. Paul, Nebraska. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Paula grew up in St. Paul, Nebraska until the age of 10 when she moved to Central City, Nebraska with her family.&nbsp; She graduated from Central City High School in 1957.&nbsp; On March 16, 1957, she married James P. Carman in Central City.&nbsp; The couple traveled while Jim was in the military to Tennessee, Kentucky and Massachusetts.&nbsp; They returned to Central City in 1959, then moved to North Platte, Nebraska in 1972. &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Paula's greatest desire was to be the best wife and mother she could be.&nbsp; She loved and enjoyed her granddaughters and great-grandchildren very much.&nbsp; Paula was an active member of the Methodist church for many years where she developed many of her lifelong friendships.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;Survivors include her husband, Jim, of North Platte, Nebraska; two daughters, Cindy (K.C.) Evonne Linn Hicken  (1947 - 2020

Joseph “Joey” Brezenski, of North Platte, passed away on March 16, 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;

He was born on March 20, 1977, in North Platte, Nebraska.&nbsp;

Joey was especially loved by the children in his family. He always had time to hold a baby or play with toddlers. The older kids always knew he would play games, sports, or take them out into nature. Joey was generous with his time and money, often giving rides and help to those in need. He was known for his gentleness, his laugh, and his humor, as well as his great physical strength. He loved chopping firewood, exercising, and riding bikes.&nbsp;

Joey was an outdoorsman extraordinaire.&nbsp; He loved hunting deer, elk, and fowl in Nebraska and the surrounding states.&nbsp; His favorite times were spent hiking, camping, taking his dogs into nature for runs, exploring the American Southwest, and taking photographs of flowers, trees and scenic vistas. A thousand fish will be glad he won’t be joining them at the lake this year, since he out-fished everyone around, specializing in trout, walleye, white bass.&nbsp; He loved his dogs, owning and breeding Labradors, but his special favorite was Smokey, the best dog in the world.

Joey faced many health challenges and fought bravely to overcome each obstacle. He was a beloved son and brother who left this earth before we were ready to say goodbye. His absence is felt in every part of our lives.&nbsp;

Joey is survived by his parents, Steve and Gail Brezenski of North Platte; siblings, Steve (Jill) Brezenski, Jessie (Chris) Guidry, Andy (Teresa) Brezenski, Jerry (Michelle) Brezenski, Gail (Tyler) Brooks, Beverly (Aaron) Jarvis, Margie (Josh) Eastlick, Audrey (Jeff) Walker, and Benny (Cathy) Brezenski; as well as 33 nieces and nephews and 4 great-nieces and nephews.&nbsp;

A private gathering will be held on his birthday to celebrate his life, and also to welcome spring, a reminder of new life, renewal, and the beauty of nature that were such a big part of his life.
