Alliance Police Department Secures Conviction in May 2024 Assault Case

President-elect Donald Trump is suing The Des Moines Register and pollster J. Ann Selzer for publishing a poll that showed Vice President Kamala Harris leading in Iowa in the days before the 2024 election, claiming the poll amounted to “fraud and election interference.”

The lawsuit, filed in the Polk County District Court Monday, seeks unspecified damages and “accountability for brazen election interference” under the state’s Consumer Fraud Act. The defendants are the Register and its owner, Gannett; Selzer and Selzer &amp; Co.

The lawsuit alleges that the poll, which&nbsp;<a href="https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/iowa-poll/2024/11/02/iowa-poll-kamala-harris-leads-donald-trump-2024-presidential-race/75354033007/" target="_blank">showed Harris leading Trump</a>&nbsp;among likely Iowa voters&nbsp; 47% to 44%, was published three days before the election as an attempt to “create a false narrative of inevitability for Harris in the final week of the 2024 Presidential&nbsp;Election.”

Trump won Iowa with 56% of the vote to Harris’ 43%. The lawsuit alleges that the Des Moines Register/Mediacom Iowa Poll was not merely an inaccurate poll, but was an intentional move with “corrupt intent” to aid Democrats.

“Selzer — who had prided herself on a mainstream reputation for accuracy&nbsp;despite several far less publicized egregious polling misses in favor of Democrats — …&nbsp;would have the public believe it was merely a coincidence that one of the worst polling&nbsp;misses of her career came just days before the most consequential election in memory, was leaked,&nbsp;and&nbsp;happened to go against the Republican candidate,” the lawsuit states. “The Harris Poll was no ‘miss’ but rather an&nbsp;attempt to influence the outcome of the 2024 Presidential Election.”

Trump said<a href="https://iowacapitaldispatch.com/2024/12/16/dc/trump-at-press-conference-backs-polio-vaccine-but-wont-commit-to-others-attacks-media/" target="_blank">&nbsp;during a Monday news conference</a>&nbsp;that he was filing a lawsuit because he felt he had “an obligation to.”

“I’m going to be bringing one against the people in Iowa, their newspaper, which had a very, very good pollster who got me right all the time, and then just before the election, she said I was going to lose by 3 or 4 points,” Trump said.

The president-elect also said he would likely file lawsuits against the news show “60 Minutes” as well as the Pulitzer Prize organization for giving awards to the New York Times and the Washington Post.

Selzer&nbsp;<a href="https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/opinion/columnists/2024/11/17/ann-selzer-conducts-iowa-poll-ending-election-polling-moving-to-other-opportunities/76334909007/" target="_blank">announced shortly after the election</a>&nbsp;that she would be retiring from election polling. In an<a href="https://www.iowapbs.org/shows/iowapress/iowa-press/episode/11885/j-ann-selzer" target="_blank">“Iowa Press”</a>&nbsp;interview in aired Dec. 13, Selzer denied allegations of election interference or of intentionally releasing inaccurate results.

“They’re saying that this was election interference, which is a crime,” Selzer said. “So, the idea that I intentionally set up to deliver this response, when I’ve never done that before, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to do it, it’s not my ethic. But to suggest without a single shred of evidence that I was in cahoots with somebody, I was being paid by somebody, it’s all just kind of, it’s hard to pay too much attention to it except that they are accusing me of a crime.”

Lark-Marie Anton, a spokesperson for The Des Moines Register, also said in a statement that the organization believes the lawsuit is without merit.

“We have acknowledged that the Selzer/Des Moines Register pre-election poll did not reflect the ultimate margin of President Trump’s Election Day victory in Iowa by releasing the poll’s full demographics, crosstabs, weighted and unweighted data, as well as a technical explanation from pollster Ann Selzer,” Anton said. “We stand by our reporting on the matter and believe this lawsuit is without merit.”

Trump sues Des Moines Register, pollster over pre-election Iowa poll

WASHINGTON – Last night, U.S. Senator Deb Fischer’s (R-Neb.) National Advisory Council on Indian Education Improvement Act passed the U.S. House of Representatives. It now heads to the president’s desk.

The legislation would give Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs) greater input over federal funding discussions that impact them by requiring at least one of NACIE’s members be the president of a Tribal College or University.

“Native voices deserve to be heard in decisions that directly impact their communities, and too often Tribal Colleges and Universities are excluded from the federal funding decision-making process,”&nbsp;said Senator Fischer. “It’s time TCUs have a seat at the table, and that’s what this legislation delivers—I encourage President Biden to sign it.”

Senator Fischer’s bipartisan, bicameral legislation&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="https://www.fischer.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2023/11/enate-unanimously-passes-fischer-legislation-to-give-tribal-colleges-and-universities-a-stronger-voice-in-education-funding">unanimously passed the Senate</a>&nbsp;last year. It was cosponsored by U.S. Senators Jon Tester (D-Mon.), Mike Rounds (R-S.D.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M), and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.). And it was introduced in the House by Representative Joe Neguse (D-CO-2). The legislation now heads to the president’s desk.

The Department of Education’s Tribal advisory group, the National Advisory Council on Indian Education (NACIE), advises the Secretaries of Education and Interior on programs serving Tribes and their members. NACIE releases an annual report, but the Department of Education does not have a process for considering NACIE’s report when developing its budget request.

Additionally, Department of Education tribal consultation sessions often do not provide the opportunity for TCU leaders to provide direct input.

   Fischer Legislation to Give Tribal Colleges and Universities a Stronger Voice in Education Funding Heads to President’s Desk

United States Attorney Susan Lehr announced that Jack Olson, age 68, formerly of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was sentenced on December 17, 2024, in federal court in Lincoln, Nebraska, for conspiracy to commit wire fraud and tax evasion. Senior United States District Judge John M. Gerrard sentenced Olson to a total of 33 months’ imprisonment: 21 months for the conspiracy charge and 12 months for tax evasion. The sentences were ordered to be served consecutively. There is no parole in the federal system. After Olson’s release from prison, he will begin a 3-year term of supervised release. Senior Judge Gerrard ordered Olson to pay $136,178.75 in restitution.

Between 2017 and April 2023, Olson conspired to defraud the Latino Peace Officers Association (LPOA) for his own personal benefit.&nbsp; Olson, a/k/a “Cody Jones,” would solicit funds from individuals and entities in the District of Nebraska on behalf of LPOA. LPOA donor letters represented that “every penny” of the donations went to athletic programs to keep target youths out of gangs and to other LPOA causes.&nbsp; The LPOA website similarly represented that 100% of donations went to athletic programs for children.&nbsp; As part of the conspiracy to defraud the LPOA, the percentage of LPOA donations Olson kept for himself increased from 65% of gross donations to 80% of gross donations without LPOA board approval. Olson spent a significant amount of those funds on himself and others for personal expenses unrelated to business dealings.

Between 2018 and 2021, while soliciting funds for the LPOA, Olson also conducted business using extensive amounts of cash and avoided making records that would allow the IRS to ascertain his tax liability for his fundraising business.&nbsp; Despite being paid 65% to 80% of donated funds to LPOA, Olson failed to file income tax returns for tax years 2018 through 2021, resulting in a federal tax loss of $95,705.

Co-defendants Johnny Palermo, age 48, of Omaha, was sentenced in April 2024 to 24 months’ imprisonment for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and Richard Gonzalez, age 56, of Papillion, Nebraska, was sentenced in January 2024 to 18 months’ imprisonment for the conspiracy charge. Both were ordered to pay restitution: $65,014.67 for Palermo; and $66,749.35 for Gonzalez.

Platte Institute Releases New Report Advocating for School Choice in Nebraska 

The Holland Foundation is honoring the legacy of its founders, Richard “Dick” and Mary Holland, with a $2.1 million gift commitment to support University of Nebraska priorities that were of great personal importance to the couple.

The Holland Foundation’s gift will create a presidential chair in cardiovascular sciences at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and support the Healing Arts program at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. At the University of Nebraska at Omaha, a new chair in industrial organizational psychology will be established and named for Dick Holland’s brother, John Lewis Holland.

Dr. Windle served as chief of the UNMC Division of Cardiovascular Medicine for 16 years before stepping away from administration to concentrate on clinical care and directing the Center for Intelligent Health Care. He has dedicated the past 25 years to making digital technology work for clinicians.

<a>Pending approval of the University of Nebraska,</a>&nbsp;the presidential chair will be awarded to Dr. Windle to further support his work. John Lewis Holland Endowed Chair in Industrial Organizational Psychology, UNO

A $1 million investment will create the John Lewis Holland Endowed Chair in Industrial Organizational Psychology in the UNO College of Arts and Sciences as an enduring tribute to Dick Holland’s brother.

Pending approval of the University of Nebraska, Roni Reiter-Palmon, PhD, distinguished professor and director of UNO’s Industrial/Organizational Graduate Program, will be the inaugural recipient. She is an instrumental professor and leader within UNO — and the world. Reiter-Palmon has been identified as ranking among the top 2% of her peers worldwide in the field of social psychology research, according to a study by Stanford University and Elsevier.

The late John Lewis Holland was an American psychologist and professor emeritus at Johns Hopkins University. He created the career development model, Holland Occupational Themes, pioneering the theory that if people were aware of their personality type or combination of types, they would be happier workers. His studies laid the groundwork for the field of career counseling.

John Lewis Holland earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Omaha (now UNO) in 1942.

A $100,000 pledge will support the Healing Arts program at UNMC and Nebraska Medicine. The program connects two of the Hollands’ passions — art and health care.

The Healing Arts program aims to integrate art into the fabric of the medical center through an extensive art collection that extends to nearly all buildings on campus and includes exhibition space and therapeutic programming for patients, staff and students.  Holland Foundation honors founders’ legacy with $2.1 million gift

Andrew Patterson, MD, PhD, has been named the new chair of the University of Nebraska Medical Center Department of Anesthesiology, effective March 1, 2025.

Bradley Britigan, MD, dean of the UNMC College of Medicine, announced the appointment to UNMC leaders and department members Friday.

Dr. Patterson, a professor and former department chair at Emory University, will be returning to UNMC, where he served on the anesthesiology department’s faculty from 2015 to 2018.

“Dr. Patterson is a strong leader whose experience will help the department of anesthesiology continue its upward trajectory,” Dr. Britigan said. “We are pleased to welcome him back to UNMC and the college of medicine.”

Dr. Patterson said he was delighted to be returning to UNMC.

“The department is one of the strongest in the country in many domains,” he said, pointing to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research rankings as an example. “The UNMC Department of Anesthesiology has exceptional researchers – Dr. Karsten Bartels, the department’s vice chair of research has said the department is ‘punching above its weight,’ and that’s not an exaggeration at all. When you look at the scientific accomplishments within the department, UNMC is right up there with elite academic institutions like Harvard, Vanderbilt and Stanford.”

Dr. Patterson also spoke highly of the department of anesthesiology’s educational and clinical care teams.

“The ICU team, the critical care anesthesia team led by Dr. Dan Johnson, has become an international leader. It earned a reputation for excellent clinical care and selfless commitment to others during the Ebola crisis several years ago. Its reputation has continued to rise since then, and it has developed one of the premier critical care ultrasound groups in the nation.

“The members of the department of anesthesiology at UNMC have a model work ethic, which is one of the primary reasons the department has earned such an outstanding reputation,” Dr. Patterson said. “The exceptionally hard-working physicians in the department, working with some of the most talented and dedicated CRNAs in the country, combined with some of the most highly regarded teachers in all of anesthesiology – it’s an honor to be asked to serve as department chair for such an incredible department.”

Dr. Patterson also said he is excited to work with collaborators across UNMC on global health efforts and humanitarian aid work, which always have been a high priority for him.

“That’s one element I’m most proud of over the past 25 years, my humanitarian aid work,” he said. “At Emory, with much support, I helped Dr. Cinnamon Sullivan build one of the strongest anesthesiology global health programs. I’m looking forward to collaborating with the many established global health leaders at UNMC to build a similar anesthesiology global health program.”

From 2019 to earlier this year, Dr. Patterson served as the chair of anesthesiology at Emory University, the institution where he received his MD in 1991. Prior to joining Emory, Dr. Patterson served as the Larson Professor and executive vice chair of anesthesiology at UNMC. He was a member of the faculty at Stanford University from 1996 to 2015 and also received a PhD in neurosciences from Stanford. His thesis adviser and scientific mentor was&nbsp;<a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_Kobilka" target="_blank">Nobel laureate Brian Kobilka, MD</a>. Dr. Patterson earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan in 1987. He completed residency in anesthesiology, chief residency in anesthesiology and fellowship in critical care medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Gov. Pillen Joins Other Republican Governors in Voicing Support for Noem Confirmation as DHS Secretary

Lincoln, Ne - Nebraska senior libero Lexi Rodriguez has been named one of four finalists for the AVCA National Player of the Year Award, which will be presented on Friday at the AVCA All-America awards banquet.

Last week, Rodriguez became the first ever libero to be named AVCA Region Player of the Year. She is a three-time Big Ten Defensive Player and Libero of the Year and will look to become the third player in program history to be selected as a four-time All-American when the postseason honors come out on Wednesday. 

A four-year starter and three-year team captain, Rodriguez has climbed to No. 2 in school history in career digs with 1,882, needing just nine more to break Justine Wong-Orantes' school record of 1,890.

Rodriguez is one of five Huskers in school history to earn first-team all-conference honors four times in a career, and she is only the second player in Big Ten history to earn three Big Ten Defensive Player/Libero of the Year honors (Paula Gentil, Minnesota, 2002-04).

This season, Rodriguez leads the Huskers with 3.91 digs per set as the team has climbed to No. 4 nationally in opponent hitting percentage on the season (.139). NU led the nation in opponent hitting percentage in both 2022 and 2023. Rodriguez was named to the NCAA Lincoln Regional All-Tournament Team on Sunday after leading the Huskers to two more dominant defensive outings. WASHINGTON —There are more than one million drones lawfully registered with the FAA in the United States and there are thousands of commercial, hobbyist and law enforcement drones lawfully in the sky on any given day, according to a joint statement from Office of Homeland Security and the FBI.

With the technology landscape evolving, we expect that number to increase over time.FBI has received&nbsp;tips of more than 5,000 reported drone sightings in the last few weeks with approximately 100 leads generated, and the federal government is supporting state and local officials in investigating these reports. 

Consistent with each of our unique missions and authorities, we are quickly working to prioritize and follow these leads. We have sent advanced detection technology to the region. And we have sent trained visual observers.Having closely examined the technical data and tips from concerned citizens, we assess that the sightings to date include a combination of lawful commercial drones, hobbyist drones, and law enforcement drones, as well as manned fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and stars mistakenly reported as drones. We have not identified anything anomalous and do not assess the activity to date to present a national security or public safety risk over the civilian airspace in New Jersey or other states in the northeast.

That said, we recognize the concern among many communities. We continue to support state and local authorities with advanced detection technology and support of law enforcement. We urge Congress to enact counter-UAS legislation when it reconvenes that would extend and expand existing counter-drone authorities to identify and mitigate any threat that may emerge.&nbsp;

Additionally, there have been a limited number of visual sightings of drones over military facilities in New Jersey and elsewhere, including within restricted air space. Such sightings near or over DoD installations are not new. 

DoD takes unauthorized access over its airspace seriously and coordinates closely with federal, state, and local law enforcement authorities, as appropriate. Local commanders are actively engaged to ensure there are appropriate detection and mitigation measures in place.

🎥Homeland Security, FBI and Trump issue new statements on drone mystery

DAMASCUS —U.S. forces conducted precision airstrikes targeting known ISIS camps and operatives in Syria on Monday, killing 12 ISIS terrorists, according to a statement the U.S. Central Command.

The strikes against the ISIS leaders, operatives, and camps were conducted as part of the ongoing mission to disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS, preventing the terrorist group from conducting external operations and to ensure that ISIS does not seek opportunities to reconstitute in central Syria.

These recent strikes are in former Regime and Russian controlled areas ensuring pressure is maintained on ISIS. Battle damage assessments are underway, and there are no indications of civilian casualties.

“CENTCOM, working with allies and partners in the region, will not allow ISIS to reconstitute and take advantage of the current situation in Syria,” said Gen. Michael Erik Kurilla.

A rise in food prices makes for a less than merry holiday season.

Grocery prices rose 0.4% in November,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.bls.gov/news.release/cpi.t02.htm" target="_blank">according to</a>&nbsp;the Consumer Price Index, released this week by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Eggs made one of the biggest jumps at 8.2% over the month, and 37.5% over the past year, providing challenges for people trying to eat a somewhat cheaper protein and families cooking holiday foods such as sugar cookies and challah.

Although the increase in food prices has moderated a bit from past years, they are still more than 20% higher than they were before the pandemic, according to David Ortega, at Michigan State University.

“It was a key issue in the election in terms of people really feeling that sticker shock at the grocery store,” said Ortega, a food economist.

President-elect Donald Trump vowed to bring down prices during his campaign and blamed the Biden administration for how they reached this point. But in an&nbsp;<a href="https://time.com/7201565/person-of-the-year-2024-donald-trump-transcript/" target="_blank">interview with</a>&nbsp;TIME published last week, Trump said he does not believe his presidency would be a failure if grocery prices do not come down.

“It’s hard to bring things down once they’re up,” he said.

Price changes to understand before you set the holiday table

The increase in grocery, or food at home prices, was partly driven by the rise in egg and beef prices, Ortega said. He said the price of holiday roast has been affected by drought and high feed prices. This year, the inventory of beef cattle was the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.fb.org/market-intel/u-s-cattle-inventory-smallest-in-73-years#:~:text=1%2C%202024%2C%20was%2028.2%20million,U.S.%20beef%20herd%20since%201951." target="_blank">smallest beef herd</a>&nbsp;since 1951.

“On eggs, the story continues to be bird flu together with increased consumer demand given the holiday season,” he said following Wednesday’s release of the latest Consumer Price Index. “And for beef the issue is supply — high input costs and decisions that beef producers made a couple of years back when they were facing drought and high feed prices which has reduced beef supply, and this in turn is affecting beef prices.”

The latest food price numbers presented a mixed bag for holiday shoppers looking to bake treats this month. Flour and prepared four mixes fell 1% and bread decreased 1.3%, while sugar and sweets rose 0.2%, and butter ticked up 1.5%.

Oranges, including the popular stocking stuffers tangerines, fell 1.8% in the latest Consumer Price Index report.

The rise in cost of eating your meals at home compared to the rise in cost of eating out is also getting narrower, with the gap in inflation between restaurant menu prices and grocery year-over-year prices being the narrowest it has been since May 2023,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.supermarketnews.com/consumer-trends/retail-food-inflation-outpaced-restaurant-menu-prices-for-2nd-time-in-three-months" target="_blank">according to</a>&nbsp;Supermarket News. Food at home in previous reports rose 0.2% and 0.4% compared to 0.2% and 0.3% for the past two food away from home reports.

Are companies profiting off uncertain times?

Rakeen Mabud, chief economist at the Groundwork Collective, a left-of-center economic think tank, said that just a few seed producers, meatpackers, and grocers dominate the food industry, which is a key part of the story of what drives grocery prices. This hurts lower-income shoppers the hardest. Oklahoma, Iowa, and Arkansas are some of the states&nbsp;<a href="https://grocerygapatlas.rafiusa.org/posts/market-dominance" target="_blank">most dominated</a>&nbsp;by a single grocer, such as Walmart or Hy-Vee.

“Across the food and grocery industry, we have a sector that is deeply consolidated,” Mabud said.&nbsp; … And so when you have big companies controlling such large chunks of the market, we know that they have used things like inflation, things like supply chain shocks to jack up prices far beyond what their input costs to justify.”

Mabud said that when there is this level of market concentration, companies can signal to each other in earnings calls that they are going to start raising prices.

“If you know that your only other competitors are also raising prices, there’s kind of no reason for you to try to undercut them if you both hold giant shares of a market,” she said.

An economic paper published this year&nbsp;<a href="https://scholarworks.umass.edu/entities/publication/c7155aaf-40b6-4da4-8d36-15556100ee7e" target="_blank">found</a>&nbsp;that companies are able to coordinate price increases around cost shocks and increase profits from these events. Mabud said the holidays provide plenty of opportunity for the food industry to raise prices on things people ordinarily don’t buy and don’t have a price comparison for during a less in-demand season.

“Grocers and the food industry kind of know that they know that they have more information about the underlying cost of a good than a consumer who only comes to buy the Christmas ham once a year. And so they can take advantage of that,” she said.

Economists are watching out for how the next administration will impact food prices.

Trump’s promise to impose&nbsp;<a href="https://indianacapitalchronicle.com/2024/12/02/donald-trump-promised-to-bring-down-prices-but-experts-say-his-tariff-plans-will-do-the-opposite/" target="_blank">heavy tariffs</a>&nbsp;on the U.S.’s biggest trading partners – Mexico, Canada and China – are expected to drive up the cost of everything, including groceries.

Products the U.S. can’t produce year round, like fruit and coffee, will be affected, Ortega said.

“There’s still a lot of uncertainty in terms of whether these tariffs are really going to be implemented or are they a negotiating tool? But that creates a lot of uncertainty,” he said. “Even that amount of uncertainty can lead to a rise in costs as companies prepare for the potential of these tariffs taking place.”

Trump’s expected policy of mass deportation of immigrants will also affect the agriculture industry, in addition to the major human rights implications.

“If there’s a mass deportation that is a shock to the labor supply and the agricultural sector. And that will lead to an increase in costs as producers and companies have to offer higher wages to attract enough labor. Ultimately that gets passed down to the consumer in the form of higher prices,” Ortega said.

Mabud is also concerned that expected tariffs could mean companies take advantage of the policy change well beyond the actual financial impact to their business.

“It’s a policy change where consumers don’t necessarily know how much the price of an avocado is going up because of a tariff versus a supply chain issue versus the grocery store just wanting to increase the price,” she said.

Patricia “Pogo” Overmeyer, 65, who works as a lawyer in Arizona and lives with her retired husband, said she has always been focused on how to save money on groceries. But she said she has become even more thrifty since inflation worsened.

She said she’s been using more meatless meals and stocks up on holiday food all year round when prices are low, some of which she freezes and cans.

“Once I retire, our income will not be as high,” she said, “Most likely I will forgo some foods or make substitutions. It’s anyone’s guess as to what we will be paying for groceries.”

But that creates a lot of uncertainty,” he said. “Even that amount of uncertainty can lead to a rise in costs as companies prepare for the potential of these tariffs taking place.”Trump’s expected policy of mass deportation of immigrants will also affect the agriculture industry, in addition to the major human rights implications.“If there’s a mass deportation that is a shock to the labor supply and the agricultural sector. And that will lead to an increase in costs as producers and companies have to offer higher wages to attract enough labor. Ultimately that gets passed down to the consumer in the form of higher prices,” Ortega said.Mabud is also concerned that expected tariffs could mean companies take advantage of the policy change well beyond the actual financial impact to their business.“It’s a policy change where consumers don’t necessarily know how much the price of an avocado is going up because of a tariff versus a supply chain issue versus the grocery store just wanting to increase the price,” she said.Patricia “Pogo” Overmeyer, 65, who works as a lawyer in Arizona and lives with her retired husband, said she has always been focused on how to save money on groceries. But she said she has become even more thrifty since inflation worsened.She said she’s been using more meatless meals and stocks up on holiday food all year round when prices are low, some of which she freezes and cans.“Once I retire, our income will not be as high,” she said, “Most likely I will forgo some foods or make substitutions. It’s anyone’s guess as to what we will be paying for groceries.”

Mossman has been an attorney with Mattson Ricketts in Lincoln since 1989, with expertise in natural resources and environmental law, water law and agricultural law, including zoning and regulation issues. Prior to joining Mattson Ricketts, Mossman was employed by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture and U.S. Senator Dave Karnes.

Mossman’s outside activities include serving as a board member for the Nebraska Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Keep Nebraska Beautiful. He is a member of the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Commission on the Platte River Cooperative Agreement and represents the Nebraska State Bar Association Section dealing with agriculture, natural resources and environment and energy.  

Mossman has a degree in journalism and received his juris doctor from the University of Nebraska College of Law.
