December 2, 2024 (Lincoln, Neb.) — The Nebraska State Patrol is pleased to announce the promotion of Major Jeff Roby to the position of Assistant Superintendent and the rank of Lt. Colonel. Roby replaces Lt. Colonel Buck Duis, who retired at the end of November.
Roby, a native of Grand Island, is a 28-year veteran of the Nebraska State Patrol. He has most recently served as the Western Operations Major, which includes Patrol Division operations in Troop Areas C, D, and E, as well as the NSP Training Academy and Crash Reconstruction Team. He has also served in the Patrol Division, Carrier Enforcement, SWAT, and Training Academy.
“Major Roby’s experience and knowledge will be incredible assets in this critical position within the patrol,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “His career of leadership in numerous areas of NSP operations will be a great benefit to the troopers, investigators, and professional staff serving across Nebraska. I’d also like to thank Lt. Colonel Duis for his career of dedication, helping to maintain public safety in every corner of our state.”
Duis’s retirement completes a decorated, 35-year career serving the people of Nebraska. The last six years have been spent as NSP’s Assistant Superintendent, with previous service in the NSP Training Academy, SWAT Team, Police Service Dog Unit, Patrol Division, and Investigative Services Division.
