GRAND ISLAND, Neb.-A 14-year-old Grand Island girl was arrested over the weekend after she allegedly fled from police in a vehicle, then made threats against officers.

Grand Island police said at around 11:21 p.m. on Friday, an officer observed a vehicle driving on Broadwell Ave. from Anna St. without its headlights on.

Police said the officer conducted a traffic stop, but as they approached the vehicle, the driver took off at a high rate of speed. Police said the driver sped through residential neighborhoods with its lights off.

Police said the driver of the vehicle was identified as a 14-year-old driver.

Police used registration information and made contact with the female at a Grand Island residence.

Police said officers gave the girl commands to turn around and place her hands behind her back, but she refused to comply. Police said the girl pulled away from the officer and told him she was going to kill him.

The girl was eventually taken into custody on suspicion of terroristic threats, flight to avoid arrest in a motor vehicle, no operator's license, resisting arrest, and no headlights.

Police said the girl was referred to probation for an intake interview.
