BARTON COUNTY —A Kansas teen was injured in an accident just after 1a.m. Saturday in Barton County.

A 2001 Ford Expedition driven by a 17-year-old from Ellinwood was southbound in the 300 Block of Northeast 110 Avenue just north of Ellinwood, according to Sheriff Brian Bellendir.

The SUV entered the east ditch struck a farm drive and came back onto the roadway, slid sideways in the road and rolled into the west ditch. First responders found the driver approximately 35 feet beyond where the vehicle came to rest in a wheat field.  

The driver was unresponsive at the scene, according to Bellendir. EMS transported him to Ellinwood District Hospital and later he was airlifted to St. Francis Medical Center in Wichita.  The sheriff did not release the driver's name.
