
NOGALES, Az—Law enforcement authorities are investigating suspects for allegedly transporting illegal drugs across the U.S. border with Mexico.
On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers at the Nogales Point of Entry discovered approximately 2,100 fentanyl pills concealed inside tamales in an ice chest, according to a media release.
Each tamale contained a baggie of blue pills hidden inside.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. In September, U.S. Senator Roger Marshall introduced legislation aimed at holding social media companies accountable for their role in fentanyl distribution. Marshall believes drug cartels are using social media such as TikTok to traffic fentanyl throughout the U.S.
