Mo. man dies after knife attack at Nebraska highway rest area

 HALL COUNTY —Law enforcement authorities are investigating the deadly stabbing of a Missouri man during an attempted robbery at a rest area on Interstate 80 in Nebraska.

Just after 7 a.m. Wednesday, deputies responded to a disturbance at the westbound rest area at 4148 Interstate 80, according to a media release from the Hall County, Nebraska sheriff office. 

First responders found two victims who had suffered wounds from an assault with a knife. EMS transported both victims, a 72-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman, both of Eureka, Missouri, to the hospital in Grand Island.  The man died of his injuries and the woman was reported in critical condition..

Local law enforcement provide the Nebraska State Patrol with a description of the suspect vehicle.  Troopers located the vehicle and were able to make an arrest of a 22-year-old man from Elyria, Ohio. 

Police have not released the names of the victims.
