Police arrest 23-year-old man over shooting death in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Police have arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the shooting death of a 40-year-old man at an apartment complex in northwest Omaha.

The Omaha Police Department said Friday that Julian Lopez was taken into custody without incident. He was booked Friday morning into the Douglas County jail on suspicion of second-degree murder and using a weapon to commit a felony.

The shooting happened just after 12:30 a.m. Friday.

Police said that officers were called to a shooting at Tudor Heights Apartments just west of Interstate 680 and north of Maple Street.

Officers found Jose Valenzuela dead inside an apartment unit.
