OMAHA, Neb. (AP) - A former manager of three fast-food restaurants in the Omaha area has been sentenced to 2½ years in federal prison for stealing from the chain's owner, federal prosecutors said in a news release.

Robert Giardina, 39, was also ordered Monday to pay more than $30,000 in restitution, the release said.

Prosecutors said Giardina used his brother's identity to apply for the job and was hired in 2017 to manage the three restaurants. Over the next year, he used the restaurant's financial system to give himself fake refunds 275 times on eight credit cards, U.S. Attorney Joe Kelly said.

Prosecutors did not name the restaurants where Giardina worked or the company that owned the franchises.
