ALDA, Neb.-Power wasn't the only thing impacted by the thunderstorm winds on Friday.

The Hall County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to the report of a single-vehicle injury accident at around 10:30 p.m. on Interstate 80 at mile marker 308, just east of Alda.

Deputies arrived and found a 2021 Freightliner semi on its side in the median.

Authorities said a preliminary investigation indicated that the semi was westbound when it encountered strong thunderstorm winds and toppled onto its side, coming to rest in the median.

The driver Alexandro Ortiz, 32, of Sparks, Nevada, was not injured. A passenger in the semi, Joseph Presta, 60, of Reno, Nevada, was transported to a Grand Island hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.
