Alliance Police Department
Alliance, Neb, - On February 4th, 2025, the Alliance Police Department received a complaint regarding a male pointing a firearm at an individual. The initial investigation revealed that the victim reportedly went to a residence on the 500 block of Platte Avenue to ask about a dog that was possibly up for adoption. It was reported that the suspect engaged in a short conversation before retrieving a shotgun, loading a shell, pointing the shotgun at the victim and pulling the trigger.
For unknown reasons, the weapon did not fire and the victim fled the scene. Officers attempted to locate the suspect but were unsuccessful. The suspect was identified as Kory A Rasmussen W/M DOB: 07/24/1988. Additional investigations were conducted, and a search warrant and arrest warrant were drafted for the individual and the residence.
On February 8th, 2025, at approximately 6:30am officers on patrol observed the suspect operating a motor vehicle northbound on Box Butte Avenue. Officers conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle in the 1200 Block of Box Butte Avenue, where the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Officers located a handgun on the suspect, as well as a long gun in the vehicle. The suspect was transported to the Box Butte County Jail.
Officers then proceeded to the suspect's residence, where the crime had occurred, and executed the search warrant. In the initial clearing of the residence, officers located drug paraphernalia in plain view. The search warrant was amended, and executed on the residence, which yielded quantifiable amounts of both methamphetamine and marijuana, evidence of drug distribution, two more long guns, and several items of drug paraphernalia. Those items were seized as evidence.
The suspect, Kory A Rasmussen, is currently being held in the Box Butte County Jail, facing charges of:
• Use of a Firearm to Commit a Felony
• Possession of a Firearm While Committing a Felony
• Possession of a Firearm w/ FELONY 2 Drug Violation
• Terroristic Threats
• Possession of a Controlled Substance
• Possession With Intent to Distribute
• Possession of Marijuana 1 oz or Less
• Unlawful Acts Relating to Drugs
• No Drug Tax Stamp
• Assault 3rd Degree (Menacing)
• Disturbing the Peace
• Possession or Use of Drug Paraphernalia
