NORTH PLATTE, Neb.-Things will be official for Miss Rodeo Nebraska Rebel Sjeklocha this Saturday.
The Coronation Gala for Sjeklocha will be held this Saturday at the D&N Event Center in North Platte, with a social hour at 5:30 and the coronation and dinner at 6:30.
"Miss Rodeo Nebraska has a great relationship with the Buffalo Bill Rodeo here in town, but this is actually the first time in 12 years North Platte has hosted a Miss Rodeo Nebraska coronation," said Sjeklocha. "We're certainly excited to have the event here in town."
The event will feature live entertainment from the Cox Brothers.
Sjeklocha is from Hayes Center, and is the daughter of Susan Sjeklocha and Rusty Sjeklocha. Rebel is a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She obtained a degree in Agricultural Communications with minors in Law and Business and the Engler Agribusiness Entrepreneurship Program. At the University, Rebel was a member of various on-campus student organizations, including the Husker Equestrian Team and the UNL Rodeo Club.
When asked why she wanted to serve as Miss Rodeo Nebraska, Sjeklocha credited her background in agriculture and inspiration from a former queen.
"I grew up on a farm and cattle operation in Hayes Center and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln, where I graduated last December with my degree in Agricultural Communication," said Sjeklocha. "But I met my first rodeo queen at the age of eight, Miss Rodeo Nebraska 2010 Michell Bosehart Whitson, so from the moment I met my first rodeo queen, I knew I wanted to be involved."
Sjkelocha will be busy as Miss Rodeo Nebraska.
"I was just looking at my calendar this morning, and it looks like, as of now, I'll be on the road 22 days out of the month of January," said Sjkelocha. "So it's going to be an action-packed year traveling across Nebraska to different rodeos, schools, and functions, but also all over the country."
Sjkelocha will compete at the Miss Rodeo America 2024 pageant at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in December.
