OMAHA, NE — In an effort to increase tax awareness and education, the Platte Institute is excited to kick off the first in a series of seven Truth in Taxation Property Taxpayer Training Camps. This year, we are extending our reach from Omaha to Scottsbluff, demonstrating our commitment to informed, educated taxpayers across the state.
"We believe in equipping Nebraska's taxpayers with the knowledge they need to understand what Truth in Taxation is and how it has the power to lower their property taxes. These training camps serve to demystify the joint public hearing process, bringing clarity and understanding to taxpayers across the state. Our team is proud to have championed this legislation from the start and now continuing the effort is central to our mission of greater transparency and accountability in government," said Jim Vokal, Chief Executive Officer of the Platte Institute.
The series of training camps will begin in Omaha on Monday, August 7th, at the UNO Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center. The series will continue throughout August, with events in Papillion, Lincoln, Columbus, Kearney, North Platte, and culminating in Scottsbluff on Thursday, August 17th.
During these events, participants will be educated on various aspects of Truth in Taxation, including why this law is so important and best practices for testifying at a hearing. Our expert team will be on hand to answer any questions about Truth in Taxation and provide one-on-one guidance if needed.
"We invite every Nebraskan to join us at a location nearest to them. Together, we can empower ourselves to make informed decisions and shape a more prosperous Nebraska," adds Vokal.
