LINCOLN, Neb. — Governor Jim Pillen has issued a new emergency proclamation in response to ongoing wildfire activity across Nebraska, while also signing executive orders aimed at supporting response efforts.
The proclamation declares a state of emergency for areas impacted by multiple fires, including the Morrill/Cottonwood Complex and the Anderson Bridge Fire. Counties affected include Morrill, Garden, Arthur, Keith, Grant, Lincoln, Dawson, Frontier, Cherry, Saunders, and Red Willow.
State officials say a combination of high winds, low humidity, and prolonged dry conditions has contributed to the ignition and spread of wildfires, creating dangerous conditions across the state and threatening both public safety and property.

Under the proclamation, the Nebraska Adjutant General is authorized to activate state emergency plans and deploy resources as needed. State and federal agencies are also being directed to assist in response efforts.
In addition, Executive Order 26-08 suspends burn permits statewide due to the elevated wildfire risk. The burn ban is extended through April 10, with no exceptions allowed during Red Flag warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
A separate executive order temporarily waives certain regulations for commercial motor carriers, including hours-of-service requirements and load restrictions, to help expedite the delivery of feed and other essential supplies to impacted areas.
The orders take effect March 28 as firefighting and recovery efforts continue across Nebraska.
Officials are urging residents to follow all burn restrictions and remain alert as conditions remain highly favorable for wildfire activity.
