LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - An arrest has been made in the vandalism earlier this year of a Jewish temple in Lincoln that has been investigated as a hate crime, police said.
Police said in a news release that Noah Miller, 21, of Plattsmouth, was arrested Friday on suspicion of felony vandalism.
The vandalism was discovered Jan. 15, when a passerby reported finding epithets and swastikas painted on the front steps of the South Street Temple. Police said in the written statement that investigators analyzed surveillance video from the temple, numerous tips from the public and gathered evidence from search warrants to arrest Miller.
The vandalism of the temple and Miller's arrest follow reported increases of hate crimes targeting churches, synagogues, temples and mosques across the country in recent years.
