OMAHA, Neb.-The gym is closed, but fitness resources from the Center for Healthy Living soon will be accessible remotely.

On Wednesday, April 8, at noon, the Center for Healthy Living will begin offering live-streamed, instructor-led fitness classes. This first virtual fitness class will feature Ashley Ryan, the instructor of "Total Body Blast," leading a specially modified version of her class that can be performed anywhere.

Ryan has redesigned the workouts in the virtual "Total Body Blast" to be performed from home without the need for any gym equipment. Instead, Ryan will demonstrate how to do these exercises with everyday objects commonly found at home. Tune in twice a week to follow along with these live classes.

For people trying to stay active in between virtual fitness class days, or those just beginning to build up to the fitness level of her livestreamed class, keep an eye on social media. The Center for Healthy Living is going to release additional exercise content, including shorter 5-10 minute activities and exercises that can be performed from the office or home office, providing a chance to break away from the desk with simple workouts.

Finally, the CFHL will offer fun weekly challenges with a chance to win prizes. Those who have taken Ryan's class before know that she loves a good challenge, so watch the CFHL's Facebook and Instagram stories for some bonus exercises that can't be found at any gym.

To stay in the loop, follow the Center for Healthy Living (@UNMCCFHL) on FacebookInstagram, and Twitter. The Center for Healthy Living is actively working to expand its virtual fitness offerings even further and needs your feedback.
