Police finds drugs, a gun and children at Kan. home

SHAWNEE COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspects on drug charges.

On Thursday, members of the Topeka Police Department Narcotics Unit and the Shawnee County Drug Task Force served a search warrant at a home in the 2000 Block Illinois Avenue in Topeka related to an ongoing investigation, according to Lt Jerry Monasmith.

Officers located marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.

As a result, officer arrested 21-year-old Amari Wilkerson and 21-year-old Blanca Cortes both of Topeka. They were transported to the Shawnee County Department of Corrections.

 Wilkerson is being held on requested charges of Possession of marijuana with the intent of distribution, Aggravated endangering a child; reckless situation, unlawful to acquire proceeds from a drug transaction, Possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent of distribution and Felony Obstruction.

Blanca Cortes is jailed on requested charges of Possession of marijuana with the intent of distribution, Aggravated endangering a child; reckless situation, Unlawful to acquire proceeds from a drug transaction, Possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent of distribution and Felony Obstruction.
